If you could disallow one episode.....

^
At least it had Spock singing the words "bitter dregs." That's GOT to amount to something.

Yet another mindless ad hominem attack on OG. What exactly is it you don't like about this episode?

First, the stupid depiction of the Yangs and Kohms. (Yes, I got it!)

Second, the weak characterization of Captain Tracey. (Morgan Woodward was way better in "Dagger Of The Mind".)

And third -- and foremost -- this all-american speech at the end with Kirk citing the goddamn Constitution! Maybe it's a bit hard for me as a non-american (from Ol' Europe) to like that.

But the thing is, I could accept all of the above if this """episode""" wasn't such an awful bore. Sorry, I just can't find any redeeming aspect in it.

Did I mention, I didn't like "The Omega Glory"? :p

I second the vote for "Requiem for Methuselah." That is not James T. Kirk we are seeing in that episode. In my opinion it is the only episode that truly violates the intrinsic nature of one of our major characters.

Other episodes sucked, but our main characters stayed true to themselves in those episodes.

I choose this side of paradise becouse i love spock and i get jelous when he makes out with that bimbo ( sad or what!!! ) but i do have to say that i don't think any episodes where bad!!! infact one of my favorite episodes is one that most people think is a joke.. Spocks brain. I thought it was good!!

:vulcan: Vulcans rule!!!!

As I've said many times before, even *bad* TOS is usually better than many *good* VOYAGERs or TNGs.

I wouldn't choose a whole episode. I'd instead eliminate or dub a lot of the continuity "hurting" lines about UESPA, the "Space Service" etc. Basically anything that doesn't fit with the TNG version of the Federation's history.
Well, as long as we're only eliminating parts of episodes, I nominate the final scene on the bridge in "The Galileo Seven". Three crewmen have just died grisly deaths, and everyone's having a big ole' laughfest at Spock's expense. Illogical. :vulcan:

UESPA was reinforced in ENTERPRISE with one of the mid-22nd century Starfleet logos, which listed UESPA as an authority or agency it is connected to/governed by. So its official on-screen canon now and plainly seen in Episode #96("Demons").

I disallow almost all episodes where they beam down to earth. It's 'Star Trek' dang blast it all. Take me to where the alien beings are.
"I'm a starship dammit, not an airplane."

Next you'll be demanding that Dr. Who stop having episodes on Earth too!

Blame a combination of lazy writing, brain farts and limited late 1960s budgets. :D

People,

I don't recall this "Vulcan was conquered" line you all are talking about. Please explain.

For me, it's a tie between "Spock's Brain" and "The Children Shall Lead," with SB being the one I'd choose. To me, ATCSL has one redeeeming feature: the space daggers Sulu imagines. I always liked that scene, as nutty as it is.

"Bitter Dregs" is the best ST song EVER! Beats "Beyond Antares" from "The Conscience of the King" and that punk rock song from ST:TVH on the bus.

I'll flush "Lights of Zetar". It belongs to Space:1999, not our Star Trek.

I mean, sure you can have goofy props, awkward acting, anachronisms in plot and execution, and the odd contradiction. But if you have good pacing, you've still got something. "Lights of Zetar" just drags on with a story fragment that in the first season would have taken 1.5 acts to resolve. Out of all the episodes, this has the most cartoonish characters, the least plausible reactions - but worst of all, the longest pauses between (and during!) dialogue, the longest stretches of exposition between plot developments, and the longest filler shots. When the script says "off to Kirk's reaction", it doesn't mean a thirty-second closeup of his eyes!

get rid of turnabout intruder. the lamest Original episode I have ever seen.

I didn't think much of Spectre in the gun, other than it had cool 6 shooters.

They lost budget when they gave raises. Basically from their budget for stage props and sets to the actors.

BAH

Nathaniel.
