If you could disallow one episode.....

I wouldn't choose a whole episode. I'd instead eliminate or dub a lot of the continuity "hurting" lines about UESPA, the "Space Service" etc. Basically anything that doesn't fit with the TNG version of the Federation's history.

I'm going with "The Alternate Factor" because if it were a 3rd season episode, it could be forgiven - it's still crap - but at least there would be a solid excuse (while a factor Barrymores absence can only be blamed for so much). In the high quality first season it sticks out, and the only redeeming factor for me for a long time was the rare behind the enterprise phaser shot.

TI..for all the reasons stated..and more - at what point would even Security be going, "Wait a minute here....executions??"

Plato's, ATSL, and AF are real contenders, though...At least RM has the wonderful little speech about love by McCoy in the coda -that last scene is actually one of TOS's tenderest and most touching. TWTE has the redemption of being out and out GOOFY at least.

I'd rather eliminate TNG.

Hear, hear! Er, I mean, now, now...

(Hear, hear!)

I wouldn't eliminate any.

You take the good, you take the bad; you take them both, and there you have, Tootie and the ugly, fat girl.

Joe, lively

I nominate "These Are The Voyages" to be erased for all eternity from Star Trek, the rest I can deal with ;)

I'm gratified I'm not the only one in here who thinks the Melvin Belli/Gorgan episode is so wretchingly bad and boring. :D

I have to say, though, that once you let all obsessions with canonicity go out the window, it doesn't really matter what happens in the bad episodes.

Some people treat STAR TREK V like that. Because Gene R. at one point mentioned to someone he found the fifth movie noncanonical, a lot of fans nowadays consider TREK V to be "disallowed."

I just can't do this. Yes, Turnabout Intruder is sexist and poorly written but the whole series in anachronistic in so many ways. There are truly bad episodes like And The Children Shall Lead and The Alternative Factor but every television series has had awful episodes. There are things like Vulcan being conquered and the Enterprise traveling distances that just can't be reconciled with the rest of Trek but inconsistencies plague every serial work.

I'll take it all, lock, stock and where is the engine room, anyway?
