If Tribbles Came To Present Day Earth

Tribbles look like they are mostly fuzz, so how much "food" could we expect to get from individual tribbles? Do they keep growing as long as they are fed or is there an upper limit to their growth? I mean, beach ball sized tribbles could make a good sized rump roast or something unless they are still mostly fuzz. (If that's the case I see tribble sweaters and knitted hats being possible)
I wonder if tribbles could be like fuzzy shmoos. Ok, yes I'm old enough to remember Al Capp's cartoons.

Present day earth? I don't know. But if they arrived, say, 10 days from now, I bet a certain someone would propose to build a wall to keep them out, and even better, promise he would make the tribbles pay for that wall, too...

(*) I do not intend to compare tribbles to a group of humans with the above remark.

Tribbles are no solution to hunger. Basically it takes many calories of vegetation to produce a single calorie of meat so a mostly plant diet like most really poor people already eat is much easier to produce and has much less strain on the ecosystem to produce than any meat diet. Trying to feed the poor with tribbles would be a step backwards.

Even though his agent advised against including any expensive to produce plot elements like new sets and models David Gerrold made the setting a space station in order to avoid the ecological devastation that would happen if tribbles were introduced to a new planet like Sherman's Planet. That's right, he wasn't evil enough to even write about anything as terrible as unleashing tribbles upon a unsuspecting planet.

It would probably be a planetary shield with the combination 1, 2, 3, 4; same as his luggage.

What would happen if troubles came to present day Earth? Would we be able to keep their population in check or could it be the end of humanity?

What you're not realizing is a Tribble already came to Earth, attached itself to Trumps head and will become the most powerful person on Earth in 8 days.
