If There is a Second Season, We May Wait a While...

What if I told you that Discovery may or may not be the only Star Trek series on CBSAA and they might alternate during the other's downtime between seasons? ;)
I'd say you're nuts as I really seems CBS and Paramount have decided - ONE Star Trek iteration at a time (IE they are very concerned about 'franchise fatigue' repeating itself - PLUS they are out to make money, so one very expensive to make version at a time is all they can afford/are will to take a financial risk on.)

That I am right?

Maybe you should actually research the subject instead of parroting pre-prepared soundbite articles that have very little connection to reality. See the fact is that Netflix paid for a significant part of the production costs, and if Netflix doesn't make that money back. Well they will withdraw further funding which means you can say bye bye to the extreme budget.[/QUOTE]
Um..yeah, about that CBS has also said they want to take CBSAA INTERNATIONAL <--- And if that happens they know full well Netflix won't pay a dime (nor would CBS want them to because that then means CBS assumes both the risk, but opens up to more profit - and Netflix doesn't offer as much Internationally and it does to it's U.S. subscribers -- SO if CBS can make some other nice offereings that appeal internationally, they could 'steal' subs from Netflix in that market.)

Someone posted a couple weeks ago that Netflix Australia said they'd still have Discovery even when CBSAA hits there.

I think aggregate sites do a great disservice to film critics in general. They certainly can be a useful tool, just not in the fashion they seem to be commonly used for. I feel RT to be the most abused(and abusive).

RT scores are also often (sometimes wildly) different from other aggregate scoring sites.

In the case of Discovery and Orville, they are getting about the same user ratings at most sites.

I'm pretty sure Bryan Fuller's original "anthology" concept has been scrapped, especially with him no longer on the series.

It will be a different arc since they said the war will be wrapped up this season. Having a different season long arc is different from an anthology series.

Australian here.

I think Discovery was 'activated' on our Netflix on, or around 5:00pm on Monday. That's possibly very shortly after it was uploaded to CBS online.

No I mean CBSAA is heading to Australia some time in the future.

I think I may be one of the few whose glad the anthology got scrapped. Sooooo much of star trek is about the journey with a crew of people and watching them grow that it would feel weird. That being said....a season with enterprise c and a post nemesis season would be quite tasty.

You're definitely not alone. I grew up on TNG-era Trek. I'd love to see another 24th-century (or early 25th-century) production. But I was tepid at best on the anthology idea. I don't want to meet a cast and say goodbye after a single season.

This right here. With any show I get attached to the characters but especially with star trek. Would just suck to have them ripped away.

I'd even like short tv movies and mini-series that cover different aspects of Star Trek.

We shall see.

Until American gods I didn't even like to read books unless it was a series! That admittedly is taking it way too far and I miss out on stuff. I'm working to remedy that.

Well, Dr. Bashir is fairly well-read, and he trades books with Garak on the regular. I think your mentor will guide you through a wide world of literature.

That leaves plenty of time for Enterprise Season 5. Just saying.

Not really, Discovery is like 20% below The Orville.

Yeah but Orville gets less spite votes. If you look at user ratings at sites like Metacritic there's a lot of kneejerk zeroes who are just mad they were not pandered to with the exact Trek they want. If The Orville as the sixth variation of a franchise that started in the sixties and has religious-level fanboys, it would probably have the same spite vote problem.
