Re: "If I've told you once I've told you a thousand times DON'T PROVOK
Oh darn! I got the quote wrong, oh wells I was going entirely from memory and it has been a while since I've seen that episode. T_T
If The Borg assimilated The Q. Game over.
Oh they'd love that, in a way I think the Q is what the Borg fantasize about being, isn't their life's mission to assimilate all knowledge in order to know everything?
Janeway likes provocative men. Maybe Q knew this when he dumped his bratty boy on her. Maybe he hoped she would be all.. wow I really missed the boat with Q, look how the fruit of his finger is provoking us all I bet his daddy is kick ass provocative.
Q thinks he is playing chess when really he is like one of those dumb people who think removing the tax cards from monopoly will make them win.
Sounds legit.....From now on this will be the case inside my own personal 'mind-cannon'.
I'm somewhere in the middle of all the opinions I've seen. I think the Q have become so apathetic that they barely care about anything at all, but perhaps at sometime they did take their self appointed responsibility as guardians of the universe, the multiverse, the galaxy or what have you, seriously. As a result maybe because it's tradition the status quo see it fit to get involved if something can have significant interstellar consequences. I also think that Q was probably protecting his son from the wrath of the Continuum more so then the Borg, at the same time wanting to protect Voyager from the Borg, since he loves to root for humanity, he would know that the knowledge Voyager could bring back to the Federation would be invaluable. The Borg for their part would probably quadruple it's interest in Voyager if they though Voyager was so darn interesting to the Q. If there's lit out there about what happen when the Borg get pissed I'd love to read it.
Perhaps Q keeps track of goings on with the Collective by virtue of a personal connection with the Queen, dropping in to chat her up every so often. Trelane-type shenanigans by Junior might make that relationship a bit prickly.
What could a Q possibly talk to the Borg Queen about?
Borg Queen: Resistance is futile you will eventually be assimilated and then we will attain perfection, we are the Borg.
Random Q: Oh come off it Queeny, I'll give you credit for being able to say that with a straight face, you and I both know you don't even believe that pipe dream yourself! Still so long as we're on the subject of 'resistance is futile' don't you people ever get tired of that dull overused line? Why not "Resistance is a waste of time' or 'Resistance is stupid' or hows about 'Hello there we're looking for some fine folks to assimilate and we were wondering if we can get some volunteers by any chance.' You know you might be surprised...
