Cold weather. I like winter activities, but I really could do without the cold weather associated with it. This Winter is predicted (according to the Farmer's Almanac) to be a long and cold one, with it expecting it to dip as low as -40/-45 Celcius by February. Brutal.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I was the same way when I first heard it a few days ago. Now mind you, that was specified for my region, so I don't know how bad it will be elsewhere. Here's an article that explains how it will be for the U.S and Canada. https://www.farmersalmanac.com/weather-outlook/2019-winter-forecast
Which, it's not. All it can do is make a long term guess based on previous averages. John Walsh, University of Illinois Atmospheric Sciences professor emeritus, reviewed the accuracy of five years of monthly forecasts from 32 weather stations around the county and found 50.7% of the monthly temperature forecasts and 51.9% of precipitation forecasts to correctly predict a deviation from averages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Farmer's_Almanac#Accuracy
Yeah, they're just guesses, although the website I linked above will fully admit when they're wrong and will go back and see how well they did. Have to admit though, it's already been feeling quite cool.
I think this arrangement is open to a lot of interpretation. Take Kellogs frosted flakes cereal as an example: am I getting rid of all cereal? Am I getting rid of the frosted flakes brand? Am I getting rid of all cereal similar to the frosted flakes brand? Am I getting rid of all the ingredients found in frosted flakes (sugars, grains, etc.) and the box (paper/trees)?
In the book Devil made it reasonably clear what would disappear. I think if the person was making the choice they would have to verify exactly what would go missing.
Did they make clear what happens to people trying to reinvent the disappeared objects? Do people forget that the objects ever existed? Do they go insane when trying to recreate the objects?
