Idea: Voyager Kelvin Movie

Of all of Trek shows, I feel that Voyager had the most potential in its premise that was squandered. I still like Voyager, but I think its execution could have been better. I was thinking, what about a Voyager series of films set in Kelvin world, with all new cast? No need to stick to any previously established continuity, just take what was in the premise of Voyager, and create something new and awesome. More so than DS9 or TNG, I think VOY would translate well into a new Kelvin verse film series. Anyone else like to see something like that?

There's always previously-established continuity in Star Trek, though, even when an alternate reality was created specifically to avoid having to run into All the Same Things We Already Know Are Going to Happen.

One stumbling block I see for Voyager stories in that timeline is: How does Voyager get there in the first place (or: why there, as opposed to some other alternate timeline)? Accidental dimensional travel once is a story premise, but another accidental trip to the same timeline would be... yeah -- somebody got some 'splainin' to do.

And, if "new and awesome" Voyager stories are what you want, there's no real need for them to be set in the Kelvin Timeline. Going to the Gamma Quadrant (or even a remote and unexplored sector of the Alpha) would be easier to explain quickly.

Voyager would work as a standalone reboot movie a la 1999 Lost in Space. Have Voyager be dragged to Borg space as some kind of Borg plot initially, they meet Neelix, liberate Seven of Nine, stop the Queen and go home.

Just so long as they keep her far away from Neelix. There was nothing that wasn't creepy about that relationship.
Agreed, but I never held that against Neelix. No relationship featuring Kes would have worked for your typical audience member, unless it was with another Ocampa.

And given my own attitude toward those who prey on the innocent and vulnerable, I think I can live with that.

With new cast, new characters, no bothering with previously established continuity... what's the point of calling it Voyager, then? Just call it something else, because it would not be Voyager.

Kes can be skipped over. Just have them arrive in Borg space and liberate Seven. Or if they do have Kes, reboot her as much as they did Nurse Chapel in SNW, i.e. a completely different character with the name.

Voyager-A. Janeway could return, of course. Maybe a genetically enhanced character, and an alien we don't know. And how about a Tellarite... a shapeshifter would be interesting. And an alien kid who's super smart. And maybe a non-corporeal character, haven't had one if them yet...

Wait a minute... this all sounds sort of familiar for some reason.

I never would've imagined Zendaya as Seven of Nine (the one name I hear come up most often is Anya Taylor Joy).

They might be going for the Marvel "re-imagining" route (something akin to making Miles Morales Spider-Man).

They can always do a trilogy.

#TeamKes is NOT going to like that at all.

There are several ways to address Kes.

Either:

- Kes already has an Ocampa companion the same age as her

- Kes is aged up (age 5-7)

- Kes is already assimilated by the Borg and is liberated by Voyager, either along with Seven, or with Icheb and the children.

- Kes is a different species altogether (ex. a Talaxian like Neelix)

- The Ocampa are reimagined (ex. longer lifespans that end at like, 35-40).

- Kes wears a jumpsuit that extends her life, while keeping her youthful image (modeled off of her look in VOY S3 circa "Real Life").

Logically speaking, by the late 24th century of the Kelvin timeline, the universes would have changed so dramatically that there would be nothing recognizable as what happened with Voyager. So there would be no reason to drag the KT into the equation.

Now if you just want to reboot VOY's original premise about a ship being stranded far across the galaxy, great. But there's really no need to make it a KT thing. Just make it a reboot where similar things happen to similar people, like in nuBSG and SNW.

Just make her and the Ocampa look elfish with closer-to-humans lifespans. Never really understood the point of the short lifespan.

I personally would enjoy a Star Trek film that involves getting lost then found again.

I originally had an idea of Kirk and company having to hunt down the Doomsday Machine but I think using Voyager as a basis could be interesting. Instead of whisked away by the Caretaker the crew of the Voyager try to pursue the Doomsday Machine, and encounter a Klingon ship doing the same thing. Both pursue the machine to the edge of the galaxy and are sucked in to an intergalactic wormhole resulting in them being in another galaxy.

You know the one crew member who may not be around thanks to the destruction of Vulcan? Tuvok. He was born in 2264 six years after the events of the ‘09 film (2258) so unless his parents were one of the 10,000 survivors he might not make the cut.

Was he born on Vulcan? As Spock notes, Vulcan has colonies and other off world installations.

Whether or not he was born on Vulcan (I think he wasn't), Vulcan's destruction could certainly alter events that would have led to him being conceived. Maybe one of his parents died, or his parents don't meet, or they decide to have children earlier or later...
