The shoes aren't SO bad. Not compared to the chore that is ironing. Shoe care is sort of like child care - occasionally messy and tiring but you do it because you love them.

And both involve being liberal with the brush and polish. (Well, it was like that for my childhood anyway. Doctor thought my blood turpentine levels were always within normal levels when I was a child, though. But I digress.)

I disagree. I would much rather iron. I hate shining my shoes (although I do it every other week).
