I sense a great disturbance in the Force...

Personally, I thought Burn Gorman was the best actor in the bunch. Sorry to see him go myself.

Quoted for truth, and I'm really glad Freema won't be the one to replace him. Hopefully whoever they cast as the new medic will be a decent actor at least...to be honest I still don't think we've seen the last of Owen.

Yeah, he may have played an arsehole (a lot of the time), but he played him well.

The old "if you didn't see the body, they're not dead" routine, eh?

something like that yes, plus all those comments from Burn suggesting he'd be back. Like you say though could have been misdirection- but if nothing else we might get some Owen flashbacks.

Gorman will be too busy getting ready for his West End run in "Oliver!", which starts in December, to appear in TW.

Plenty of time during which he'll be involved in rehearsals for Oliver!, yeah. Maybe they'd be able to work a cameo for Owen around those two conflicting schedules, but a proper role would be a logistical nightmare.

4 months seems a long time to be in full rehearsals, but then again I've never really thought how much preparation goes in to stage productions.

I believe that David Tennant went into rehearsals for "Hamlet" immediately after he finished Doctor Who on 3 May, and the first previews of that were on 24 July, so that's nearly three months. He doesn't have to be involved in rehearsals right now for there to be an eventual overlap between the two. Five episodes of Torchwood will take 2.5-4.5 months to do depending on scale and length. Maybe if they built the schedule around it they could squeeze him into the first couple episodes...

also isnt the title "Children of Earth" rather lame, im a child of the earth, your a child of the earth, I would say 99.99999999% of people on this forum are children of the earth.

Why does that make it "lame"?
its a sci-fi story, I expect titles like "Children of Mars", there is nothing sci-fi about Children of Earth as a title, im sure the plot will build on it, but I dont think its that good a title

Well look at Hellboy, Children of the Earth means all the hidden creatures of the forest, Elves, Goblins, etc. not humans. So there could be more of an SF&F spin to it than you think.

that had better not be a spoiler for The Garden Army.

For what its worth im sure the plot will e more sci-fi than the title suggests, and I hope it isnt refrencing human children.

The Garden Army? Is that like Ground Force?
It's right there in the trailer for Hellboy 2, so not so much a spoiler.

Seen it, have you?

Torchwood isn't really science fiction.

There's nothing "Sci-Fi" about "Doctor Who" as a title, or "The Girl in the Fireplace", or "Blink", or "The Talons of Weng Chiang", or... etc.

"Blink"? What's that about then, people with grit in their eye? "Silence In The Library"? Nothing SF about libraries. "The Doctor Dances"? Is that the musical episode?

The point is that an episode's title can be "non sci-fi" and down to earth and not be a drawback. Wamdue (with all respect) is getting his knickers in a twist over nothing.

:D

ok where to start.

Hellboy2 & yeah the Golden Army, ive not seen the trailer in a few months

Jim Steele , first you question me , when I say the title isnt very sci-fi, then when I say im sure it will turn out to be more sci-fi you tell me Torchwood isnt Sci-Fi, which of course it is, the man who cant die, the rift in Time & Space, if that isnt Sci-Fi than I dont know what is.

and those Doctor Who titles all turned out to part of the sci-fi element of the episode, my judgement is on the title not the episode, I even later say im sure it will turn out to be more sci-fi than I think.

ITL I think you are all over estimating how much I care about this title.

It's not SCIENCE fiction. The Andromeda Strain is Sci-Fi in the true sense of the term. Torchwood is only Sci-Fi in the bullshit catch-all "stuff nerds watch and anything by Joss Whedon" sense of the term.

It's tales of the fantastic, not science fiction. It's no more Sci-Fi than the bible is (although both have the fiction part down pat, but that's a different forum).

if that isnt Sci-Fi than I dont know what is.
I don't think we should start defining things based on what you don't know, dearest wamdue.

I'm kidding. I love you really.

ok lets not use the vague definition of Sci-Fi to have a go at something I said.

I dont think a couple of you have got your knickers in a twist over what I said, at least as much as you think I have my knickers in a twist

anyways (new subject) im going on a 22 miles bike ride tomorrow, wish me luck
