I had never seen her before the AMA show, and then last night she was on Jay Leno. The song was interesting, but I really liked the interview. She came off pretty intelligent. She won me over when she said she idolized Judy Garland AND Led Zepplin. Wow...
Well heck, I like Zep and Neil Young, give me a medal. How does this make her special or more talented? (Just asking in a literal sense)
Well to each their own, but it's kinda like Homer guarding the Bee in a Jar situation with the other two morons..... just because you are smarter then those you hold company with, doesn't actually mean you're a genius.I'll say it again; her performance, and more importantly, her songs were far and away the best part of that show. All the other women were awful..she was unique AND her songs actually had some great chord progressions.
So...yes, GAGA was good!!

Considering what I seen from the music industry in the last 8-10 years, you could drop a lump of crap in front of a mic, sprinkle glitter on it and you can sell it as gold. It doesn't actually have to sing, we can make it better, faster, stronger......... we have the technology..... and people will buy it because of the lack of options and because we tell them to.
She's better then most of the crap out there today, I'll agree on that..... but things have a looonnngg way to go to get back to any decent quality I'd bother to pay for or waste any of my life on.
I heard better lyrics from a Wiggles song. Anybody can google that to know what Wiggles are, you'll get the joke then.
The music industry has been 90% crap for sixty frigging years, full of one hit wonders and no talent hacks, image riders, teen-idol types... for every Led Zeppelin there are a thousand Alive and Kickin's (remember them? No? They do birthday parties and wedding now apparently). Like movies or anything else, people forget most of the shit they watch and listen to and remember the good stuff. If we're talking about top 40 radio it's basically catchy tunes punctuated by shite, what else is new? Did I miss some golden age of pop music where it was all good all the time?
All your post suggests to me is that you liked the popular music ten years ago and don't like it now, and probably never went out of your way to find the really good stuff then or now. Music is a bit more packaged these days because artists have to sell themselves as a brand to make money because they don't make much from CD sales anymore and have to rely on tours and merchandise they can put their name on, but that has nothing really to do with the music per se.
What music did you pay to listen to a decade ago for which there is no comparison now?
