I Just Can't Take It Anymore!

Now it doesn't have to beep anymore. It knows that you'll be laying in bed, wide awake, wondering if it's going to start up again now. Or now. Or now....

But it also reminds me of the other night when I heard a beeping in my apartment. Couldn't figure out what it was until I checked the smoke alarm -which I had assumed was electrical. So I open it up and see a battery in it.

I guess it's a sentinel -even though it says the battery is required- so, OK I pull out the battery. The dumb thing keeps beeping. So I unhook the plug that is there holding it to the housing.

It. Still. BEEPED!

No battery, not connected to the electrical cord, and it STILL BEEPED! Fortuantly whatever remaining power was in it didn't last for more than a minute or two, but MAN was it at good frustrating 15 or 20 minutes getting that beep resolved.

This same thing happened in an episode of Friends. Phoebe ripped all the cords out of the ceiling and it was still beeping.

Yeah, that was going through my head as I went through this. I was in an episode of Friends.

^Or the "Everything Is Okay" alarm that Homer Simpson invented that sounds every three seconds as long as everything is okay.

"IT CAN'T BE TURNED OFF!"

^ Well, it went off again today for about a minute, but it's not been going constantly -- nothing like this weekend. Hopefully it's being fixed. And I do think the police, or some one, ought to do something if it goes haywire again!

Very cute avatar, TSQ. :)

You flatterers -- I sit here now with dark circles under my eyes from the lack of sleep! I think the ordeal is truly over with, though. Now if I could only get my landlord's tropical birds to shut up!

^Okay that made give a good old laugh out loud :guffaw:

As for shutting them up, there are ways. But where to get a R/C car with a spraycan mounted...

^It made me laugh out loud too! I've never actually seen these birds -- well, I saw a couple through the blinds but I couldn't make out exactly what they were. I have a feeling he has at least 3. He has one that actually sounds just like an owl, and another that sounds exactly like a dog squeaky toy. The squeaky toy bird drives me out of my mind.

Oh gods! As someone who has dogs who has had those toys I know exactly what you mean. Keiran, one of the dogs always used to sqeeze it slooooooooooowly so that the squeek was as long as possible. The sadistical adorable little bastard.
