I am a grown man and "The Visitor"makes me cry everytime.

The episode's only flaw is too much technobabble. But pretty much every post-TOS episode has that problem so I don't know if one can complain about that.

I'm pretty good right up to the part where Ben says to Jake "My sweet boy." and then a little moisture occurs at the corner of my eye.

It's a really really good exploration of the best kind of father son relationships, I love my son more than anything in the world and I hope we are still as close as Ben and Jake when he's older

Actually, it's better than "The Inner Light". And no I didn't cry at it. I'm just not a cryer.
I can't quite agree there, although I do see how anyone could prefer The Vistior. Both definitely made me cry (when it comes to TV/movies, I am a crier, even if not so much in 'real life'). Probably The Inner Light made me cry more. They are similar episodes in a lot of ways but both show Star Trek at its most powerful on a very human level, using high-concept sci fi to explore deep, shattering emotional ideas with the characters.

Have cried over “The Visitor”, too. It's pretty much perfect. Definitely one of the best episodes the franchise has to offer.

To me it was s pretty boring episode.
And if I recall correctly the old man makeup was pretty bad.
Why not just have an actual old person do old person parts?
Meh.......
