Spoilers Huge legacy character revealed as Prodigy lead!

Sequels are almost always a letdown to a large proportion of fandom, because everyone has developed their headcanon regarding what happened, which then smacks into new content.

I mean, I loved watching in the DS9 documentary the historic writers room reunion and breaking the script for the "eighth" season. But I think some of their choices (like Bashir as the literal head of Section 31) would make everyone's heads explode.
His genetically enhanced intelligence might make him the best intelligence officer ever ;)

Do y'all think Janeway will be the star of the show or more of a mentor? Some TV shows have a team of characters with a boss of sorts who is left behind at home base while the heroes go on adventures. The actor playing this character usually ha some kind of "and so and so as so and so" at the end of the opening credits. Often played by a well known actor.

I can see Janeway as this character. Perhaps she mans the ship while the teens have the adventures?

A good question has been thrown around. Are we seeing teen Janeway before Starfleet, Admiral Janeway, or perhaps retired Janeway? Hologram Janeway would be funny. lol

Disco shows us that in modern Trek, Mommy and Daddy are a real-time holo-call away; maybe she's guiding them remotely.

They could find the crashed aeroshuttle and trigger a beacon when they try to reactivate it. Janeway is notified and calls them to help repair it...

That would actually be cool if the ship were Voyager's aeroshuttle. Given the Delta Flyer was rebuilt, it's not like Voyager couldn't replace the aeroshuttle, thinking it lost or destroyed.

As I said, it works a lot better if you presume it's like a holo-Janeway for that reason. Real Janeway has better things to do than this.

Unless, I suppose, Admiral Janeway eventually gets stranded somewhere in a ship locked in stasis, eventually rescued by the teens. Which could work, but it would seem like too much of a Voyager retread to me.

My guess/vote is for Janeway as either:

A) a Command Training Hologram: for training flights of cadets, the ship just gets a little lost; a little coincidental for a ship commandeered by children, but could fit well and would match with Janeway's previous experience with lost ships; could be the non-customized version of Rios' hologram program

B) an Emergency Lost in Deep Space Hologram (ELH): a more humorous approach to option A; for those times when your Starship is lost in deep space, just break glass ;)

I think they've done a pretty good job so far of taking Star Trek in some riskier directions while still making use of the established lore and characters.

I wouldn't mind at all seeing more legacy characters along the way, so long as TPTB don't start pumping out cookie cutter shows.

Watching season 3 premiere of Discovery made me wonder if Prodigy takes place in 32nd century since it involves a derelict spaceship. But that doesn’t fit with Janeway, so forget it.

They make a hologram of Captain Janeway to guide them. Problem solved.

Heh ... how can anybody not like Columbo's WIfe???

Christ....is she named "Kate" in every show?
Maybe she should star in a show detailing the later years of Catherine the Great. And it's a wonder she never was involved with any adaptation of Wuthering Heights as Katherine Earneshaw and Katherine Linton.

Kate Mulgrew also portrayed Katharine Hepburn in a one woman stage play.

Janeway's first name was originally Nicole when Bujold was in the role. When Mulgrew came along she basically said 'no, no' like consuela from family guy and they changed it.

I know, that's why I was making fun of her.

Like, does she have the intelligence of a dog and can only respond to one name?
