How's 2009 So Far?

Sunday my friend got word that her National Guard unit is being deployed to Afghanistan. So I'm pretty much writing off 2009 as a loss.

Yeah, 2009 is quickly sinking. The bottom's going to fall out anytime now.

Woo, Brew and I are going to graduate from the same school at the same time. Whee!

I should be less impressed with this than I am.

Probably because I am, what, two-three years your senior? I should be done with this by now! :rommie:

Meh, just numbers on a calendar.

On the other hand, I have recently come to the realization that I really have no idea what I'm going to do once I graduate, and that it is no longer acceptable to put off finding out, which means I am going to have a lot of work ahead of myself.

I now officially hate 2009.

Workwise, 2009 has been the busiest yet. :wtf:

Personally, I don't seem to have done much more than in 2008 (especially physically), but spiritually, mentally and internally I feel the best I've ever been. :bolian:

I am at the end of my second week of Ultra marathon training and I have kept to it pretty close, so this is always a good thing. I have never been able to keep training for more than a day or two on my own, so lasting 14 days is always a good sign. 2009 seems to be a good athletic year for me.

So far, so good. I am going to be promoted to a lower paying position, but with better perks.

I've not had any complaints so far. As of a couple of years back, I started setting myself the yearly task of doing things that I haven't done before, actively trying something new. So far this year I've done two completely new things - addressed a conference; and entered a national photography competition. Small things, really, but I'm sticking at it.

2009 compared to 2008 for me (so far): The same but different.

So far crappy. First my Dad died, not in '09 but on Dec. 27th. He was 88. And I'm having to put my autistic little sister in a state school, cuz I can't afford to take care of her and watch her 24/7. In the span of a couple of weeks, my family vanished completely. Hell of a year so far.

Well, it just did a turn-around from a great beginning. Some stupid kids smashed two windows in my Honda Civic Friday night. (Older back-up car, but still ...)

And I don't have the money to fix them.

And rain is expected Wednesday.

Time get some Saran Wrap and duct tape ...

Interesting fact I am now in possession of: the cameras on the M25, which do indeed cover every inch of the road and have resolution easily high enough to read number plates, are not switched on as a matter of course. They are switched on if and when the police specifically ask for them to be. Apparently, the excuse is: the computer storage space isn't available for all the video they would generate left on all the time.

Haven't they ever heard of a circular buffer? Just overwrite the oldest stuff. Keep the most recent week or so at any given time.

Hmm, first I ring in the new year with one of the worst colds I've had in recent memory. Then, last night, a pipe burst above my bedroom ceiling. The damage could have been much worse, but I now have a 4'x3' hole in my ceiling that needs to be repaired. Plus, I haven't even gotten the bill from the plumber, yet.

So yeah, 2009 is bad times.
