How's 2009 So Far?

2009 has been utterly shit to date.
My best friend was in a 70mph hit-and-run RTC on the M25 yesterday evening, no injuries thank God but the jackass who hit him got away so his written off car and £3000 damage to the crash barrier is on his insurance.

Sorry to hear about all your current ills, but on this one, isn't the M25 covered in cameras these days? Is the resolution too poor to pick up any reg details?

Interesting fact I am now in possession of: the cameras on the M25, which do indeed cover every inch of the road and have resolution easily high enough to read number plates, are not switched on as a matter of course. They are switched on if and when the police specifically ask for them to be. Apparently, the excuse is: the computer storage space isn't available for all the video they would generate left on all the time.

With regard to catching the driver who buggered off, it's extremely unlikely he will be caught. However, he has no idea he didn't kill my friend. Hopefully, that weighing on his conscience might lead him to turning himself in. I've seen similar happen before. Imagine waking up every morning thinking you might have killed a car full of people.

Hmm. It makes sense, and yet... :wtf:

Well, I hope they turn themselves in, but I'm not all that hopeful. Still, fingers crossed!

2009 has been basically no different from 2008 so far. 2008 was pretty much the same as 2007 too. In fact I'd say the first half of 2007 was the last time my life changed at all noticeably.

I'm stagnating.

It's been going decently enough so far. Spent NYE and NYD with my best friend that I haven't seen in a couple of months, watched a lot of House, picked up BSG season 4.0, and am on day 5 of my ultra-marathon training schedule (which means I am doing 4 days better than any other attempts in the last 3 years). Overall, it hasn't been bad yet.

I broke up with the girl I've been dating for a year and a half, a friend of mine died of a heart attack, my return to school was delayed by a semester and my great grandmother is reportedly fading fast.

Fuck 2009.

You know what, I really hope this year improves for me greatly. I'm still at home, working for my father but by myself, and I don't have many friends. Last week I kept on thinking it would be nice if I was back in school. Of course I'm glad I'm out, but I am looking for a job and it's tough. Can't just be sitting at home all the time, and I don't even want to be here.

While so far 2009 has been off to a slow/rocky start for me, I'm going to work to make it the best yet.

It's my second day back at work after the holidays... how do you think I feel...?

Also in the tedious annoyance category is the fact that my boiler at home could not be repaired today and the next time I'm free during the daytime to let the repairguy in is next Tuesday, so I have a week of managing with just a fan heater to warm the house and an immersion heater to warm water.

Well, I'm glad it broke down this week rather than last week, put it that way. Last week it was subzero (celsius scale) all the time. This week it's a few degrees above.

After spending a week and a half arguing between my college and financial aid, I finally got my financial aid released a day before the tuition was due. It is amazing how many different answers I can hear to the same question: "Can you please tell financial aid my grades were good and they can release my grants now?"

So now I am on track to (finally) graduate. I walk in May and then actually finish up over the summer. The down side is that I got saddled with an 8AM class... EVERY WEEKDAY. I am more of a morning person than most, but blerg.

I've been able to stick to my diet and I've now started going to the gym. My goal is to look like the guy in my av. I'm not too far off, just need to tighten up.

Woo, Brew and I are going to graduate from the same school at the same time. Whee!

I should be less impressed with this than I am.

Today I got paid to watch a movie and give my opinion. If the rest of the year could be as good as that I'll be happy.

Probably because I am, what, two-three years your senior? I should be done with this by now! :rommie:

I realise it's fairly obvious really, but had you noticed the damn boiler never breaks in June? Coldest week in 5 years? better book an engineer. :scream::p
