I would totally have been OK with the "warp delta" in the role NX-01 eventually played, although I'd have preferred a bit more height on the nacelles for clearance between them.
No offense to anyone is intended when I say that too many of the concepts pictured in the thread are decked out like TOS ships. It's okay to prefer that look overall, but NX-01 resembling it too closely (e.g., same hull coloration, identical dish up front...anything like that) would have been more disappointing than what we did get. I was not the biggest fan of NX-01, but at least the bare-metal look of the hull seemed to credibly hail from a different era while remaining stylish enough for "network" television. As several have pointed out, it worked on Conestoga (though I didn't care for the asymmetricality), and the rest of the early Earth Starfleet seems to have gone over somewhat better with the fans than the NX class.
