I enjoyed it as much as season 1. That season I liked or loved 8 eps and really disliked 2 of them. I’d say that’s about the same for season 2.

I'm still not sold on SNW, but I also didn't get fully into TNG, DS9, or EN T until their respective third seasons so I'm holding out hope for SNW.

How I would rank the S2 episodes:
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
Subspace Rhapsody
Those Old Scientists
Charades
Hegemony
Lost in Translation
The Broken Circle
Ad Astra per Aspera
Under the Cloak of War
Among the Lotus Eaters

Ranking the S1 episodes:
A Quality of Mercy
Spock Amok
Ghosts of Illyria
All Those Who Wander
Children of the Comet
Strange New Worlds
Memento Mori
The Serene Squall
Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach
The Elysian Kingdom

Overall, I'd say it's a notch or two below the first season. This season felt more uneven. Still good but not as solid as the first.

Tried not read too many responses before posting as I'm easily influenced! Loved this season so a lot of these episodes could be switched around in my list pretty easily.

Those Old Scientists
Among the Lotus Eaters
Lost in Translation
Subspace Rhapsody
Charades
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
Ad Astra per Aspera
Hegemony
The Broken Circle
Under the Cloak of War

I'm not going to muss with ranking the episodes but overall there was only one episode I "disliked" and only because of its connection to a series I don't like.

Overall, it's good and solid season. But in starting to re-watch S1, I think I liked S1 more. It has more of... The vibe I'm looking for. But, lots of good moments here in S2.

I think, *cough*, controversial opinion, that in terms of overall quality, episode for episode, SNW S02 is the best season of Star Trek that has ever been made. It let me feel like what it must have felt like, watching week to week as a kid in the sixties, fascinated by the fact that you never really know what you might see in the next episode.

It was a ride.

Subspace Rhapsody — Inventive, great singing, moving in places, a lot of fun to watch. The boy band Klingons are hilarious.
Charades — Vulcans are my favorite aliens. It’s always fun to see more revealed about the culture. T’Pring’s mother is a character for the ages.
Under the Cloak of War — A heavy episode but one that prompts thought about the nature of war and peace, mercy and forgiveness, PTSD and trauma bonds. There’s a lot of character development here for both M’Benga and Chapel.
Ad Astra per Aspera — A great trial episode and another one that makes the audience think. I’m not sure it’s a straightforward tale about tge evils of discrimination. There are reasons for the Federation laws and Una’s parents knowingly broke the laws and risked her life to save themselves from prosecution.
Lost in Translation — A good Uhura and Kirk episode, nice to see Kirk interacting with his future crew.
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow — This one made me really feel for La’an. It also is a great time travel episode.
The Broken Circle — Good action scenes, nice introduction of Pelea, Spock and La’an and the Klingons.
Hegemony — I hate cliffhangers but the Gorn make great villains. I like the battle scene between Spock, Chapel and the Gorn. I also hope Batel lives.
Those Old Scientists — A little too cartoony.
Among the Lotus Eaters — A bit of a dud of an episode. I provably won’t watch it again.

I'll get to ratings, but this seems like a place to put an overarching thought about the season that's been on my mind. It's rooted especially in watching Paul Wesley and Celia Rose Gooding this season. With every appearance by Welsey, I found myself more drawn to his Kirk. By the time Subspace Rhapsody came, I realized he had become more defining of Kirk than Pine or Shatner. I just never clicked with Shatner; I don't know why. But Wesley made me invest in the character in a new way. And then Gooding sang what was essentially a personal statement for Uhura, and...

Bottom line: this season is a turning point for the franchise. When it was just Shatner, Nimoy, and company, they were these characters. When Pine, Quinto, and company entered the frame, the stories asked us to accept the new cast as the younger faces of the original players. They'd evolve into their predecessors, and were positioned as largely deferential to them despite being in an alternate timeline.

Now, and especially with the heavily character driven stories this season, we have options in a way we didn't before. Like the many Gandalfs drawn by many illustrators, or the many on-screen versions of Greek Gods, these characters have well and truly found a life that exceeds the original telling. Just like everyone won't agree on who the definite Bond is, we've reached the point where everyone won't agree on the definite Spock. The story is bigger than its players, and that's exciting from a cultural standpoint. It can only be a good thing, as it suggests the story will go on for a long time.

Ratings:

Subspace Rhapsody
Under the Cloak of War
Among the Lotus Eaters
Charades

===9===
Those Old Scientists
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

===8===
The Broken Circle
Hegemony
Lost in Translation

Overall, I think this season was a tad better than season 1. Both were very good, but I think the "swinging for the fences" succeeded in telling good character stories and having interesting "genres"/approached for the episodes.

I still could use some stronger sci-fi/exploring next season, but there was some good stuff this year. I think Under the Cloak of War and Ad Astra per Aspera provided the most to think about this season, though "Under..." was a better executed (no pun intended) episode.

I hope the expressed wishes of some of the producers, and some of us fans, is carried out and we get to see more episodes in season 3 (or 4, if 3 is too "locked in" in development terms already) - maybe 15? Would allow more room for all our great characters. #JusticeforOrtegas

One final general thought: there are points where it felt like COVID protocols were interfering with having enough characters or character interactions in scenes where they could have been used. Hopefully we are done with those kind of problems now.

As for my rankings for this season's episodes:
1. Those Old Scientists - 10: a perfect blend of SNW and LDS with nice continuations/expansions of all the SNW character storylines this season; and so funny!
2. Subspace Rhapsody - 9: I don't really like most musicals, but this was very well done and very entertaining. Could have used a little less autotune - I don't mind if not everyone is a great singer; this wasn't a "great singers universe" it was a "musical universe."
3. Under the Cloak of War - 9: even better after a rewatch. The production values were amazing and just an amazing story for M'Benga and the war veterans. I think the ambiguity of the ending will be discussed for decades and will likely be major part of why some people will rate this episode poorly.
4. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow - 8: Great time travel story and great story for La'an, starting her season long arc.
5. Charades - 8: One of the funniest Trek episodes ever; shows that not every storyline has to be self-serious, yet there were some very good character bits for Spock, Chapel, and Spock's relationship with his mom.
6. Ad Astra Per Asprera - 8: A lot of great stuff about this episode. I liked how it addressed a gamut of issues from discrimination, "passing", refugees/asylum, and activism. But the courtroom aspects were a little weak. Maybe it was that weird Discovery set they reused, but it didn't feel like there was any real courtroom procedure or rules, just a bunch of monologuing. Probably should have had it as a preliminary hearing (a la "Rules of Engagement") which would have allowed for the speachifying to seem more reasonable. And I understand why they had the other SNW crew not do too much as it would have taken away from Una's and her lawyer's primacy in the storyline, but just having them be largely observational missed an opportunity for both good stories and more dynamic storytelling.
7. Hegemony - 8: Good, moody return of the Gorn. And Scotty was a nice addition (though does he really go from a Lt to the chief engineer of the flagship in 6 years?). This being a cliffhanger detracted some from the story for me; hopefully they stick the landing next season which would probably help elevate this half in my view.
8. The Broken Circle - 7: A fun intro to the season, with some good character moments. A lot of table setting for season 2, but not bad.
9. Among the Lotus Eaters - 7: A nice try at a strange somewhat-new world, and nice callback to The Cage.
10. Lost in Translation - 7: I liked the Uhura/Kirk stuff, and the Pelia/Una stuff (in fact all the character stuff was just great), but the mystery was a little predictable and underwhelming and there wasn't enough plot twists or new approaches (minus the hallucinations actually being coherent messages once you knew what to look for) to help carry the episode.

I actually couldn't rate them. But I loved every episode. I'm only afraid now that Season 3 can't beat it.

Charades and Tomorrow... are at the top of the pile. After that it's just trying degrees of goodness.
