How would you handle a TOS reboot/remake/continuation?

I can't watch Continues anymore after all the things Vic did allegedly.

So, if Vic wins his lawsuit against his accusers, it'll be okay, again?

Also: I can dislike the things that celebrities and innovators have allegedly have done, but I can still appreciate their contribution. After all, as an African-American, should I support the present effort to tear down the legacies of the Founding Fathers, simply because of they weren't "progressive enough", as far as the Black community is concerned? Something to think about, I guess...

It's a difficult question. But I don't think I'll ever NOT be able to find Michael Jackson's hits catchy as hell even if a day comes when I'm 100% convinced he was guilty of the things he was accused of. And the Founding Fathers have to be judged as products of their time - in which case, most of them were remarkably progressive. (See especially Alexander Hamilton's writings in "The Federalist Papers" about it being shameful that black people who would fight for the freedom of the country would not be allowed to participate in that freedom. And George Washington's attitude toward gay people in his military and government.)

Hadn't heard about this Vic stuff. Upsetting, since I am a fan of a lot of his anime dubbing work as well as Star Trek Continues.

It's really a shame because the work of many other people on Continues, especially Todd Haberkorn, is outstanding.

If proven innocent, yes.

Some can seperate art from artist, sadly I cannot. I can't watch Kevin Spacey's work since his unpleasent behaviour became public, for instance.

Funny how you say, "if proven innocent", when the burden of proof should be on the accusers. But, I digress...

I am reminded of a quote from the DS9 episode, "In the Pale of the Moonlight", in which the main character, Benjamin Sisko laments the fact that, in the real world, ethics and morality are constantly pressured by situations that are uncomfortable. And, in the end, Sisko is more than willing to get "dirty" for the greater good. It is because of this, a science-fiction show, that I've learned a greater truth: sometimes, you take the bitter with the sweet, and that you will have to live with the choices that comes with it.

There are many instances where we look at our celebrities, whether they be artists, politicians or what have you, and want to idolized them as people who are greater than ourselves, only to later find out that no only are these people flawed, but are most likely horrible individuals. But, you weigh that by the positive things that they done for the world, be it a song that inspires a young artist to pursue his or her dreams, or a scientific or technological endeavor that saves millions of lives. Or, be inspired by a set of principles from a politician who wasn't so great after all. For me, IMO, a person's worth is less about their own personal lives, and more about the greater good that inspires others. It is a tricky thing to balance, and it is admirable to have rock-solid convictions, but I am also reminded of the tale of the oak and the bamboo: while both are strong, only one is flexible enough to survive a storm.

I don't know if the accusations that Vic Mignogna is facing are true or not, but he definitely should bring the matter to court. We're talking a man's career on the line, in the face of a movement that risks undermining the basic principles of "due process" in the United States. And, if found guilty, then so be it. It will be a sad thing indeed, but I'm not about to toss away anything that Vic has done, because of the allegations. You know, bitter, sweet. And if that makes me less of a person because I am willing to compartmentalize these things, then so be it. I can live with that choice, and so I will.
