How would you feel if they said they were going to be doing another Shatner as Kirk led movie?

We all know his age and we also know that most of cast couldn't be in it, including the most important two in Spock and McCoy. But they want to go ahead anyways by putting him charge of some younger cadets or something. Would you like the idea and be excited to see real Kirk again or kind of meh at this point.

Me I would love to see it but I think that is because I am always curious about things. I don't though think the movie would be good but you never know. I mean do sort of see the potential of Kirk having to deal with the idea of all his family is basically dead. Some of the themes explored in "Logan" when you think about it.

As long as they didn't pretend he was still able to be a action hero and you played the drama of the situation then I think it could work.

Sure. it's not like they care about continuity these days.
They wouldn't be able to afford him though.

imagine the poster:
From behind lone figure of curly hair Kirk in new uniform (reminiscent of TWOK but updated) standing in Starfleet HQ/SanFran looking up at classic movie Enterprise in stars above. in the credits amongst the new cast is Walter Koenig, Kim Cattrall, and Michael Dorn. and directed by Meyer (obviously)

Tagline: 'some legends never die'
Title: Star Trek: Kirk

Are we forgetting about getting taken by the nexus and dying under that bridge thing? Retcon? Alternate timeline? Or was Kirk a Q? Qirq?

maybe the Halloween/Terminator Dark Fate route of just flat out ignore the main characters death in a lame sequel? (with IDW doing a 5 issue 'Countdown' miniseries explaining it via alt timelines, nexus echoes etc.. that would get recon'd a few years later) or set it pre Gen (via CGI deage)

Maybe Kirk travelling to the past and meeting his younger self........ Getting himself into trouble with the Department of Temporal Investigations.

He could be Kelvin Kirk from the future XD
I assume the next Kelvin Movie could be the last in that series, so, perhaps at the end of the this Kelvin Movie (the bigger budget should be able to pay for Shatner), they could give a scene advanced far into Kelvin Kirk's future of Shatner's Kirk reminiscing about his long career and lost friends or something. Since it is the Kelvin-verse, there would be no Nexus event on an Enterprise-B, so we don't have to worry about continuity. Make it one last tribute to Shatner's Kirk. :techman:

It never happened.. TNG and everything after was just a dream Kirk had while passed out on the Enterprise B after almost being sucked out into the Nexus but he was instead able tech a force field around the hole in the ship thus saving his life.

For fun I wrote a post credits scene for a Kelvinverse movie while Leonard was still alive. Something like :

Over the pilot's shoulder view of shuttle dashboard approaching New Vulcan, which is visible through the forward windscreen. The pilot reaches forward and toggles a switch on the communications panel, pauses, repeats and receiving a green light, speaks -

"Shuttle Galileo to Ambassador Spock, are you receiving me Spock ? I've had one hell of a time tracking you down !"

An elderly Vulcan appears on the screen - "This is Ambassador Spock..." pauses, incredulity spreading over his face "...Jim ? "

Switch to full face of the pilot, grinning - "Spock !"

Another pause before the Vulcan responds, puzzled - "Aren't you dea.."

"Didn't stick ! Come on, grab your stuff, I've got a way...we're going home !"

It's a no from me. I love the guy and all and his portrayal of the character is one of my heroes, but I think despite him being in good health for his 88 years I think he's too old for anything beyond an extended cameo in my opinion.

I guess I'm just getting a bit bummed out with my favourite franchises mining nostalgia. I want trek to forge it's future.

as long as he can nap in the afternoon I think Bill will be fine ;)

seriously though I blogged about the possibility of Shat coming back, it was mooted for Enterprise and two JJ movies https://dannylavery9.wordpress.com/2017/10/27/the-many-ways-to-bring-back-kirk-prime/ but I honestly think the ship has sailed

i can see him voicing Kirk in an animated project though. But the way the franchise is going a live action revival looks impossible. (Mind you not long ago Sir Pat thought he firmly shut the door on Jean-Luc!)

It would be nice to see Shatner back in the role and I think the producers can handle what the actor could do but I'm struggling to figure out how this could happen when Kirk's fate in Star Trek: Generations was so final? He was killed twice in the movie and there wasn't a glimpse of hope to bring him back.

Maybe a prequel before his death might be another approach and use the CG tech to face youth him a bit; I was impressed at what I saw in "The Irishman".

I'm still not convinced there's not a version of him in the Nexus.

i'd prefer Shatner to play old Pine than revived Kirk Prime. We could get him in a shiny new Starfleet uniform :)
