With any luck that spore germinates in Tilly and we have a replay of the Alien chestburst scene.

Also, that idea reminds me more of Alien: Covenant that "Alien."

How will this season end? Pew pew pew pew is my guess.
But you see how there are 4 pews?

It's because the bridge crew is pew pewing as a family. And if you ask the writers, that's been their carefully crafted journey the entire time.

I can see it now.

Mist. Fog. Battle. Faint screams.

The DSC bridge crew slowly walk forward out of the mist.

Metal eyebrow lady valiantly raises her hand in slow motion, aiming at something in the distance.

Pew.

Saru nods approvingly.

Metal face lady raises her hand.

Pew pew.

Saru beams with pride.

Michael and Saru make eye contact. Their familial bond has been leading to this moment all year. They know what must be done.

They raise their hands in perfect sync

Pew pew mutha****in' pew pew pew.

The Klingon homeworld explodes from their phaser blasts.

Then they have a rave.

end of season....

"Captain, we are getting hailed by a Captain Riker"
And after this cliffhanger, just to screw with fans, we get to Season 2, when it turns out to be Captain Janet Riker, of the Cardenas-class USS Monitor and informs them that Discovery was missing for a grand total of 3 weeks.

this feels right.

Oh man, look at Saru's expression :D
Oh and if this is a preview of Season 2 (Cornwell in command of Discovery), then :techman::techman:

And for a second I thought Saru was wearing high heels
I never actually looked closely at his feet. That's pretty cool

Is this promo picture for next week's episode? One of the promos did show Cornwell used a code to take over USS Discovery's command. This might be a screenshot from later in the episode or the end scene....
it is a promo from next week. cornwell isn’t dressed like she was in the scene taking over the ship with her access code so this is later. i’m sure it’s just temporary but i can definitely see the show going forward with her in command. i’m down.

There's no way that the prime universe Starfleet would ever give mirror Georgiou a captaincy.

Well, it looks like you were wrong and I was right. In tonight's epispde,
desperate to win the Klingon War, Starfleet actually gives MU Georgiou command of Discovery!!!

After tonight's episode, I feel more certain some sort of reset is happening.

Look at the evidence on the table. First, Starfleet has accepted some sort of plan from MU Georgiou which will involve basically rendering the Klingon homeworld uninhabitable. Yet we know that Qo'noS is not destroyed in the Prime Universe. We also know (from the trailer for next week) Burnham and the other main characters will not be down with this. Thus the plan - whatever the details, cannot go forward.

Even if Burnham & co come up with an alternate solution - a way to convince the Great Houses to a ceasefire, for example - they will have technically disobeyed a commanding officer along with Starfleet directives, making them all mutineers who will be tried and stripped of rank. Hence no Season 2.

In contrast, Stamets's spore drive is all stocked up, and he now knows he can travel anywhere through time and space. Seems like a no brainer.

Nope. It will be swept under the rug because they saved the federation.

I'm not liking the idea that the Federation wins through force alone and by turning to the Dark Side, to mix franchises, through Mirror Georgiou. I hope something else comes up.

my new guess:

The Emperor can override from the chair the same way lorca did, so when they jump to Quonos they really jump back to the mirror universe. They know they overshot last time and went to 9 months to the future, so this time when they go back they try to go back earlier, to the past , before battle of the binary stars.

My whacked out theory is that it's going to turn out the ENT/DISCO mirror universe is different from the TOS/DS9 version.

Next week Georgiou will crush the Klingons, then return to Earth and declare herself Emperor. Being magnanimous, she'll permit non-humans to serve in the new Imperial Starfleet (or at least she'll let Spock do so, since Sarek helped her with her plan), thus creating the universe we saw in "Mirror, Mirror."

Horrified at this development, the Disco will go back to the Battle of the Binary Stars and find a way to stop the war from ever happening, thereby creating what we've always thought of as the Prime Universe, though technically the "Mirror, Mirror" universe is the original one. But after changing history, our Discovery will still exist, and to keep their knowledge from falling into the wrong hands, the crew will decide to use the spore drive to explore strange new universes ...
