It's all opinion here. Protagurus would be proud.

Me saying that rama's post is an opinion.... is not itself an opinion, it's fact.

I will never, ever understand why anyone would assign so much weight to whether or not La Sirena uses holographic controls. To me that makes about as much sense as being really invested in the color of a character's socks.

    Indeed. And??

I countered the EC video (I like EC btw) here and elsewhere, making all sorts of logical sense. Yes it's still my opinion but certainly just as valid.

The showrunner himself stated that there were only three distinct ship designs that he approved, but that he didn’t know if all three were actually used. The ship class we saw was the Inquiry class, which Chabon stated was the class of Riker’s ship. The other two classes, based on his descriptions of them, were not seen on screen. So there’s only one class of ship on screen, albeit with two different nacelle designs.

Not sure how that can be any clearer.

Ok in your opinion are holo controls that float on the air superior to the flat paneled interfaces?

I really don't give a crap about it. And I suspect you really don't either.

Then tell Terry Matalas, the Showrunner for Season 2. This is his Twitter Page. Post on it and tell him directly to his face.

You still have time, if you really do care enough. Even if he doesn't make any changes, your dissatisfaction would still be made known to him. Otherwise, it's all talk.

And we'll be able to check to see for ourselves.

Why don't you apply that same 'looking cool > practical' rule with the Federation fleet?

With the latter you've said you'd prefer it to be practical over looking cool(er).

First of all, fan service does not equal "looking cool" in my book. That's what all the older ships would amount to-it would look cool for the scene and afterwards I would be questioning the logic of such ship use.

What I prefer is it making sense in the context of the story. Both the holograms and the ships make sense in context. If the only objection to the holograms is that they are "impractical" then I find that rather odd, given a lot of impracticalities of Star Trek.

Or, maybe it's just my own personal expectation that holographic displays were inevitable based upon what I had seen in Star Trek up until that point. That's my own bias.
