I was about 4 months away from my 16th birthday when it aired. You had a good early birthday present!TNG premiered two days before my 16th birthday here in Cincinnati.

Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis built themselves around being light fun shows with engaging characters and more often then not a not very complex storyline. But can you elaborate on that? as a non-stargate guy, i'm super curious.
I didn't realize DS9 struggled that bad in the ratings, I had always thought it was pretty level with TNG, and that drop off didn't really start until the later seasons of Voyager.
I have to wonder how DS9 does on the streaming services today? .
These two posts basicly tell us everything we needed to know about the decline of viewers in Star Trek. People didn't like the boldy staying the f*** here aspect of DS9, and didn't watch. They prefered TNG. TNG ended, Voyager came along. Again, it wasn't TNG enough (which is ironic, since VOY basicly became TNG-Lite after a while) and people didn't like it. Enterprise came along and holy shit did hardcore fans blew some fuses!! Nothing looked like a TOS prequel should, how dare they!! So, people didn't watch.
After a while, in reruns or Netflix, or cheap dvds on Amazon. However, for ratings and studios, this does two things; Jack and Shit.
The new movies atleast showed there was still some interest in Star Trek, and CBS decided to give it another shot.
You mean no evidence other then the Orville trailer which compared to Discovery's 1.9 million views while sitting at 11,200 likes and 6,200 dislikes has 2.9 million views and is sitting at 22,250 likes and 3,750 dislikes?Except that there's no evidence that there are enough people "starving" for that to make it possible for CBS to turn a profit.
I don't like to feel stupid when other people cut my complaining to shreds because I have no idea of what I'm talking about. Pride is going to cost me at least $5.99 a month.![]()

And that's what the majority of viewers liked about the series.

i watched stargate universe at the height of my battlestar galactica phase. This is especially poignant now when we have a glut of dark character driven drama's on the air starving the people for SG1 and TNG type shows.
You want Star Trek to be a sitcom? You mean no evidence other then the Orville trailer which compared to Discovery's 1.9 million views while sitting at 11,200 likes and 6,200 dislikes has 2.9 million views and is sitting at 22,250 likes and 3,750 dislikes?![]()
The Orville isn't a sitcom, try again. You want Star Trek to be a sitcom?![]()
It's a comedy series set in a workplace.The Orville isn't a sitcom, try again.
Honestly, I don't think we were intended to believe that all Klingons lost their ridges due to the augment virus. Noncanon books and comics tend to include both types in that era.
When you say "evidence other than" you apparently mean to suggest that listed YouTube views are evidence of some sort relevant to the size of audience the two shows might be expected to hold on TV.You mean no evidence other then the Orville trailer which compared to Discovery's 1.9 million views while sitting at 11,200 likes and 6,200 dislikes has 2.9 million views and is sitting at 22,250 likes and 3,750 dislikes?![]()
