I will bet good internet currency Discovery goes first given it's production costs.

Discovery's first season is already paid for thanks to international distribution deals. According to CBS.

However, I saw a Youtube speculating that Netflix is unhappy with the final product, wondering how it is so different from what it was pitched, and draws little connection to the rest of the Trek in it's libraries.

Funny thing is that I shared the trailer on a couple of other forums, and it got nothing but positive responses. Suppose it depends on where you go.
You can find every opinion on the Internet. Honestly, the better metric will be the response when it airs, not the gasbagging (to borrow a radio term) that can run rampant with reckless speculation.

From personal experience, I know that one forum had ST ID as the "worse thing ever" and then I come here and the reaction is more mixed. The problem that I have observed is that every opinion becomes more "extreme" and then reactions to it follow the same pattern. "Worse thing ever!" "DSC will ruin the franchise" "True fans!!!" and the like.

I just am curious to see reactions to the actual show.

I really wouldn't trust that stuff. It is from the same people that said Beyond wasn't being made, and that Abrams had embezzled money from the Star Trek Into Darkness budget. They also had it on good authority that Netflix was going to announce season five of Enterprise on January 1st, 2015.

Unless Netflix either says something about being unhappy or they decide not to go forward with a second season, then I'll assume they are happy with the product.

Key word is speculation. Any proof or evidence other then fsns don't like the look so Netflix must not like it either?

You want Star Trek to be a sitcom? :vulcan:

I mean, sure, Orville might be funny, or it might bomb. I'm not sure why people think it will be good just because it looks like the nineties Star Trek it is deliberately mocking.

It's funny, I don't remember Trekkies ever being excited for a new show. They were all never going to be as good as what we already had. How could a bald English guy replace Kirk?

I wish the new Star Trek series would be in the middle between The Orville and DIS tone wise. The Orville is obviously a comedy series and looks so far entertaining to me, but for a real Star Trek series a bit more seriousness would be good. DIS though just seems to go in a too dark direction for my taste, lacking fun and humour completely.

That's a fair point. I'm not sure if it fairly represents the actual tone of the whole series, or if it's just a trailer emphasising the action and dark elements of what looks like mainly the pilot episode.

Worth remembering that the "darkest" Trek series, Deep Space Nine, was also by far the funniest.

Oh no! A YouTube video made by a crazy crank who has been spouting nonsense for years! Clearly Trek is doomed.

Some Trek "fans" remind me of Landru's people sometimes...

Given what we have been shown so far I have a very distinct feeling that Star Trek Discovery will be the Stargate Universe of the Star Trek series. :(
SG:U IMO was way better that SG:A - so yeah, not an issue if that's the case. ;)

You mean no evidence other then the Orville trailer which compared to Discovery's 1.9 million views while sitting at 11,200 likes and 6,200 dislikes has 2.9 million views and is sitting at 22,250 likes and 3,750 dislikes? :D
There are more 'Family Guy'/Seth McFarlane fans then Star Trek fans (and yes, that DOES have a lot to do with that.)

Save yourself a click............No it is not a going to be replaced by a mythical show.
Clickbait bullshit that I managed to sit 37 seconds through before moving back to reality.

Hugo - not saying its not been a long road getting from there to here, but still...
