How much have you slept lately?

Over all, how much sleep do you average a night.

Somewhere between 6 and 8 per night. I give myself about 8 or 9 hours to sleep, knowing that I will wake up at least twice during the night. So, if I set aside 9 hours, I will probably actually sleep only 7 or 8.

3-4 hours, but sometimes a little more, so I put 5 hours.

OMG. Are you serious? How do you function?????

I put 7 which is ok, 8 would be better. I couldn't function on anything less than 6. After one of those horrible rare nights where i just can't sleep, i am totally useless the next day. I usually get weepy and am horrible to be around.

I´d say around 7 hours per night on weekdays. Thats the time I need. Sometimes its als 6 hours, but thats actually not enough for my body and mind to feel awake. Weekend can also be 8-9 hours...though actually I am often not alsleep than anylonger, but just day-dreaming in bed.
Vote for 7.

6.5 or 7 hours on weekdays, 8 or 9 on weekends. I really would prefer to get 7.5 or 8 on weekdays, but I'm so swamped with work that it's not doable right now.

It's better than when I was in law school, though. Then I was lucky to get 6. It really took a toll on me.

Lack of sleep or lack of a regular pattern of sleep has a number of short-term and long-term health implications (depression, weight gain, impotence, skin damage etc) - I try to ensure I have a regular pattern and get 7-8 hours per evening.

Margaret Thatcher apparently only got 4 hours a night, claiming it was a waste of time

... and look at the state of her :D

I physically can't sleep more than 7 hours without some serious illness, so I tend to get around 6-7 hours. If I get anything less than 4-5 hours I'm pretty much a zombie for the rest of the day.

Like this:

BUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH! BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!!!!

That's about the way of it. ;)
Today I had 4 hours. Yesterday I had 4. Last week I didn't sleep 2 days in a row.

About seven hours. Six used to be my magic number but as I've gotten older it seems to be seven. Since I get up at 5:40 this means I have to go to bed at about 10:30 most nights.

I have a very strong inclination to wake up after 7 hours so even if I'm hungover or sick or something and should probably sleep more hours I will usually wake up after 7 and not be able to get back to sleep.

I sleep about 8 hours each night, that's the sweet spot. Anything less than 7 and I feel like I can barely function. Anything more than 9 and I feel like crap, like I have a hangover or something. So I go to bed around 11 PM and wake up around 7 AM each morning. And even though I set my alarm, I almost always wake up about 5 minutes before it goes off. When I wake up, I am up for the day, there is no falling back asleep. I am my best and most alert in the morning.

I often do that. During my time at university, I got it down to waking about 20 seconds before the alarm went off. It was a race to switch it off before it sounded.

Lately, I have not gotten a lot of sleep and its so important now that I'm pregnant. I have difficulty falling asleep, and lately when I wake up in the morning even if I don't have to get up, I'm awake. I didn't used to have that problem. I have been really bitchy lately too. I am hoping to get in a more regular sleep pattern soon.

I try to get all 8 in right now. I'm about to start working a late shift again, so it'll probably be less. I'll probably get into bed about 6 am and wake up at noon.

One of the very best things about being self-employed is being able to prioritise my time. Sleep, I can assure you, gets a very high priority, and I generally sleep between 8-10 hours, on average.

The best bit is sometimes drifting awake around 8am, hearing people outside distantly crunching on gravel drives or starting their cars, and then blissfully returning to the land of nod for another couple of hours. :D

I average at about 7 hours. Sometimes a lot less, sometimes a lot more. Depends what's going on. I find that I am not at all at my best with anything less than 7. Ideally, I like 9 interrupted hours, but that hasn't happened for some time.

I have noticed that whenever I have many consecutive days off, I always wake up naturally around 9:30am (as opposed to my highschool/college days where I could sleep in until 2 in the afternoon). If I could have a job where I started at 11, I would always get plenty of sleep every night. As it is, I have to get up 2 hours earlier than I would like to, and it's way too hard sometimes.
