Consume alcohol: 4-5 days a week
Consume enough to get drunk: probably averages to once a week, though there are some weeks that I don't drink at all and others where I'm drunk 3 days in a row
Consume enough to 1) black out, 2) vomit and/or 3) promise to never drink again: once every couple months

Mandatory Drunk Days:
New Years
Halloween
Halloween in January (my friends and I love Halloween so much that we have 2 of them!)
The Superbowl (along with a party sub from Subway)
All friends' birthdays
When my best friend and I have Buffy/Angel marathons
When my friend Tony visits from out of town
When my friend Angie is bartending
Election Day
Anytime I find myself at a bonfire
When our favorite local band (Minus 6) is playing at our favorite local bar (RIBCO)

That's all I can think of right now...

I have a couple of glasses of wine on most evenings and I go to the pub for the evening maybe once every 2 weeks at the moment, I rarely get drunk but it takes quite a lot of alcohol to make any significant impact on me.

Seldom. Every couple of months, maybe? I'm not sure. It used to be Never, but then they invented Twisted Tea. :D

At the most it's one small glass of wine and a dry sherry on a work day.

Maybe a whole bottle of wine spread over a 2-3 day rest-period (once every few weeks).

Honestly, these days, just too darned tired to drink much.

Hugo - was teetotal for a good period of his wine-selling career, but missed the thrill of experiencing a new wine.

It seems to me mostly moderate/TT people are going to answer this poll. Everyone else is in denial.

If I go out to dinner and they have a bar, I'll usually have one or two drinks. I rarely drink at home unless friends are over. Occasionally if I get an old friend on the phone, I'll have a drink while we talk.

What I find interesting is my lessened ability to process alcohol. In my youth, I was to able to handle 3-4 mixed drinks. For the past decade, my limit has been two. Now at 55, I can see that changing to one mixed drink and a glass of wine. Any more than that and I feel too tipsy to drive and will often feel the effects the next day. I won't be hung over but I will be lethargic.

Not any more. I used to drink socially but mainly because people keep pushing me to do so. People don't seem to understnad you can have just as much fun no drinking. I don't like the taste of alcohol (never have).
But they do understand, it's you that don't ;) You see, it's no fun drinking with a sober person -so as long as you are part of a drunken party you're making it less fun for all the drunkls.

(I truly hate having to state this in a post, but I cant seem to express it in emoticons: nothing personal or against sober people intended.)

I don't find this to be true. There are a few people I'm close to that have never touched alcohol, and they are plenty fun at parties--especially if you don't try to force them to drink!

For myself, I'll drink occasionally during the week and occasionally during the weekend. I don't get drunk quite so often anymore. Otherwise my drinking will consist of wine over dinner with my husband, and I don't usually have more than a glass.

^ I don't have anything against those that wish to remain sober at parties and would agree that there is no reason why they should be less fun, however, I do get annoyed at teetotallers looking down their nose at people who drink and accusing them of needing to drink in order to have fun.

Some of us just like it, the sooner people realise that not everybody who uses substances to enjoy themselves does it out of compulsion, the better.

^ Oh I agree, people like that can be annoying. It's irritating when people drinking try to make others do so, and it's annoying when sober people judge those that are drinking.

I'll drink socially- but more than a couple drinks, and I'm flushed and giggly. This is not attractive, so I try to avoid it. Guess I need to spend some time training in the U.K. Damn, those people can hold their alcohol.

I'm not a beer drinker at all - don't care for the taste. I prefer liquor, mixed together in some yummy way. But I don't keep it in the house, and am only a social drinker. Sadly, my life must suck, because I haven't had a drink in at least a couple of months.

I drink an adequate amount. Maybe an average of a glass of wine or a bottle of beer every other day during the week, and one night of more serious consumption every other week or so. I generally only get drunk on special occasions.

Lots of reasons why I don't drink, but mostly I just don't see the need to do so.

Do you only do things that you need to do? What a boring, tedious way to go through life! I don't need to do about 90% of what I do, yet I do it, because it is enjoyable, and enjoying yourself is the whole point of life.

So...in short...everyone is either irritating or annoying. ;)

Well, yes. Have you just realized this? :wtf:

Never before have I heard of a man whose lifestyle fitted his job so well :rommie:

My bad, probably language confusion, I was not talking about the kind of party you are invited to, but the kind of party you are part of; gang / group of people.
When you are trying to have a political debate while drunk it is impossible to have it with a sober person, When you do something stupid the sober person is a killjoy, in fact; if you're trying to enjoy being drunk the sober person is ruining it.

So...in short...everyone is either irritating or annoying. ;)

^I'll drink to that!
