Somebody's drunk thread got me wondering about this. How much? Feel free to post what you're thinking if you're not represented in the poll.
I'm a Never - hate the taste person, although your poll is incorrect with the description of "tried it once". While I was at school and university, any time I was in a bar and told people I didn't drink because I didn't like the taste someone would always say, "oh, try this, you'll like this!". And since it's impossible to convince a drunk person with calm reasoning, most times I'd taste the damn thing just to get them to shut up! So it's Never - Tried it a million times - hate the taste
I voted Occasionally during the week. Usually on weekends. But in truth it's more like Occasionally during the week. Occasionally on weekends. I had two beers last week, I'm on number three of tonight (the mood was right) and I had a lot of wine, dessert wine, avec's and long drinks on Saturday b/c we celebrated dad's birthday.
Tried it, been drunk once 16 years ago. Haven't touched it since. Don't know how anyone could. Disgusting shit. Now, weed on the other hand...
I turned 21 this year and have yet to drink any. I have no objection to it, I just have no desire for it either. I have plenty of other things to spend money on and don't feel I'm missing out on anything.
I'm that way too. I can't stand wine and beer drinks. I have to have my liquor covered up with fruity flavors. I can handle a daiquiri, hurricane or a Margarita.
For me, the trouble with that is I can't stand those strong fruity flavours either! I just got used to being sober, don't think I'd change my ways now even if I discovered an alcoholic drink I did like.
None any more. I'm a recovering addict. Been sober over six years. Still miss it once in a while, like during the Superbowl and stuff.
Not any more. I used to drink socially but mainly because people keep pushing me to do so. People don't seem to understnad you can have just as much fun no drinking. I don't like the taste of alcohol (never have).
I chose Seldom, but that doesn't really cover it. I think that last alcoholic drink I had (as in, the whole glass) was a glass of champagne at my wedding---almost 5 years ago. Hubby doesn't drink and I don't drink. We both had/have drunks for fathers so the whole getting drunk scene does not appeal to us very much. Plus, neither of us like the taste of it, so it makes the choice pretty easy.
But they do understand, it's you that don't You see, it's no fun drinking with a sober person -so as long as you are part of a drunken party you're making it less fun for all the drunkls. (I truly hate having to state this in a post, but I cant seem to express it in emoticons: nothing personal or against sober people intended.)
I throw one or two back during the week to relax and usually drink a bit more on Friday or Saturday night. I haven't been able to get hammered two nights in a row in years though.
I have never had an alcoholic beverage of any kind. If I do in the future, it will be sparingly and for certain occasions, if I wish to do so. J.
Seldom/special occasions for me. I'm not a big drinker. I'll order a mixed drink every once in awhile when I dine out, and the only time I really drink anything at home is if I run across something that sounds good that I'd like to try and if I have the ingredients already. I strongly dislike beer and I've never been drunk, though. I do enough stupid things while sober, so I'm a little terrified at what I might come up with while inebriated!
