How many seasons will it last?

I think at least 5. Enterprise is the worst series by consensus and it lasted 4 years. No Trek series ran shorter since the 60's. Also, this was before Abrams made the new movies and sparked so much more interest. I see no reason it shouldn't go longer than ENT.

Do you think it'll be anthology style or will in be more like what DS9 became? The latter style has been more common among shows recently. Which would you prefer though?

Just one episode and then, in order to be "trendy" and "edgy", the script will call for the new, substitute, pseudo Klingons to storm both Starfleet ships and kill everyone off in a half an hour long scene of bloody gratuitous violence.

Byeeeeeee.....................

Now that's all finished can we have that real Prime timeline Cage era series we were originally promised??

Pleeeeaaaseee!!

Idk... like, three? Seven? Four?

I just hope it finishes before it becomes rubbish. Looking at you, Walking Dead.

Not to some, they want the fan film. They want it to look like a 50 year old TV show, only die hard trek fans would give a second look.
Okay we are going to make a film called Rogue One, and explore the events immedietly before Star Wars A New Hope. But we need to redesign the Stormtroopers, Star Destroyers and all the Starfighters. New uniforms for both Rebel and Imperial forces. Because how could we duplicate the look from the late 70's, that is sooooo dated now. Oh, and it's no longer gonna be the Death Star plans that Princess Leia finally escapes with, but a secret Imperial base in the Diaspora Sector. And from now on that will be the new canon interpretation.
And all those fans from back then, who want us to maintain the old look and storyline are just closed minded obsessives.
Well we know how that turned out!
Good to see some francise can maintain both the look and storyline from an original incarnation over 40 years ago.
Why not ours...................??

Maybe because A New Hope looked 1.000.000 times better than TOS? Can't believe people still drag in Rogue One in the discussion. Despite its limitations, ANH still looks good, especially the designs and richness of the world... you really want to compare the Death Star sets to a TOS cardboard set? TOS was a perfect series, but come on, you cannot get away with that kind of production design nowadays.

I'm guessing 5 before cast changes or budgets make continuation untenable. It'll then be replaced by another trek show for 5 years.

This heavily flawed comparison, again. Lets go though how flawed this is
1: Star wars is not our future, its not related to earth, our technology or even this galaxy, its not even sci-fi.
2: Star wars visuals are pulled from the pulp look of the 1930 and 40's. It has a set visual style that has never changed.
3: The fact a movie made in 2016 looks and fits with one made in 1977 without looking dated and old should be telling to you. Star wars, because it did not try to reflect the future or earth does not age the way the TOS and trek as a whole does.
4: Star wars is leaps and bounds above TOS in look and style. They invented the very type of model shooting later movies and series, such as Star trek would use. As has been pointed out, Star wars does not look old or dated, put next to TOS its lightyears better.

To be fair, they did change the Stormtrooper armor and add lighted windows (and additional detail) to the Star Destroyers, among other things. The changes are subtle enough that most people don't really notice.

Sure, why not?

They're both made of the same stuff anyway: wood, like any film set.

Shore Troopers, Hover Tanks and Drivers, Death Troopers, Krennic's Shuttle, U-Wings, AT-ACTs, TIE Strikers all say what up.

Two at the minimum... the profits from season 1 have already guaranteed a season 2.

Take it from there.
People keep saying this, but it's total nonsense. Until shooting starts on 02x01, the only thing the profits have guaranteed is "profits."

And I use profits in quotes because it's hard to make a profit off something before the product has been put to sale. CBS can say what they want to about it, but it's all just marketing fluff for shareholders. Any argument to the contrary is a correlation fallacy at best.

Plus, the last few months it seems Netflix is starting to show a strong willingness to cut bait much earlier than before. The minute CBS loses Netflix support, the show is done.

That said, I give it three seasons at best, but that's just going on what I know/have seen so far. Things will be much clearer after the first two or three episodes.

Though, I will say I think there's a very good chance that, three/four years from now CBS execs will be kicking themselves for not hiring MacFarlane when they had the chance.

Those are all new designs for new things though, most of which happen to fit the established look from the OT.

Edit: My guess is about four seasons. I don't think it will be canceled, but I think that's about how long it will take to conclude its story.
