Star Trek in 2030:
- Discovery, Season 13
- Picard, Season 5 (couple of hiatuses)
- Pike, Season 7
- The New Section 31, Season 3
- Upper Decks, Season 4.5
- Captain Worf, Season 2
- The Adventures of Ephraim, Season 1 (based on the hit animated movie)
- Academy, Season 7
- Ceti Alpha V, third miniseries featuring all-CGI performance via the Montalban estate
- Star Trek XIV, still in talks

I could see all of these except the scenario you have for Picard. I think if they extend the show passed three seasons and they keep Patrick Stewart, they'll get seasons out as fast as possible. Unlike with the other series, they can't afford to wait in this case. If they want to keep going, that is.

My idea was that they "end" Picard after three seasons, but then Stewart decides to do another season a few years later. And then comes back for a final season due to popular demand.

Stewart's age might not lend well to a grueling TV schedule, especially as he approaches 90, but in this fantasy world of mine, people want more due to high quality, and Stewart likes the role as its evolved.

Then again, it might just go on as Star Trek: Sirena or something, if the cast stand out on their own and Stewart retreats to occasional cameos or a graceful, but permanent exit.

As I said elsewhere, the knowledge that they are planning to develop another two live-action Trek series makes it seemingly somewhat more likely that Discovery ends relatively early, such as after the fourth season. CBS probably doesn't want to have more than one episode of Star Trek coming out each week after all. Seven series = at least 70 episodes, which is 18 too many. So something's got to go in their airing schedule as the new series premier (which will probably be in 2022 or so).

Picard will end after three seasons.

Picard will end after three seasons.

They never actually said that. There were comments they had enough story for at least three seasons. There's now been some comments suggesting a fourth season is possible. Provided the show is popular, my guess is they'll continue to produce it as long as Sir Pat's health holds up and he's willing to do it.

Even if it is over at Season 3, that is most likely - if Discovery is still on the air - the same year as Season 5 of Discovery. I doubt they will want to end both shows in the same year, which gives them reason to end Discovery a year earlier. Or I suppose you could argue a year later as well, but unless something else bombs quickly they probably want to drop a Trek series by the end of 2021 to make room for all the new content.

I hope they keep Picard as a finite thing. They have the opportunity to give us a thoughtful, well-considered ending to Picard’s story — a destination at the end of this journey. I’d rather have that than a show in search of a plot like Discovery.

In the end I want Discovery to go as long as possible. If I have to pick a number I'd ideally want I'd say 10. I'd like it to be the first Trek series to hit that number. Assuming the stay in the future is for good as they've said there is a LOT they can do there to expand Trek in that area. Most likely I think it might hit 7.

I voted for four seasons... but I suppose it depends on whether they're able to get the show figured out this year.

The first two seasons are all over the place.

Discovery had the unenviable task of completely reinventing trek for TV. I'm hoping it hits its stride this year and they have at least three seasons set in the far future; it's the best opportunity trek has had in a while to move back into purer sci fi and away from nostalgia and melodrama.

If They are only going to do 8 to 10 episodes a year, I could see DISCOVERY going for at least 6 or 7 seasons.

I think DISCO should have one more season and transition into movies; the series look very cinematic already making the switch wouldn't be much of a stretch.
