Is "my guy" a typo? Did you mean "my gut" or do you have some inside info?
Indeed a typo...was replying on my phone last night and I few spelling errors here and on a few other posts. Didn't see an option to 'edit' the post; sorry!

For some odd reason this forum doesn't allow noobs to edit posts. Editing privileges come later.

I'm going with 3 seasons unless the writing gets a lot better.

They could have a room full of dust mites scribble out scripts that are nothing more than proverbial dust bunnies. If the ratings are there, that's all that appears to matter (?). Also, some people will watch people do nothing more than read verbatim out of a phone book if they have a certain attraction to the presenter reading it. That isn't exactly a new phenomenon either.

And, as a form of art, it's still subjective. They've the occasional good idea and in retrospect I've accepted the outfits with the collars; being a decade before Kirk, it does have a feel that works and would flow to become what we saw in TOS... even if the stories themselves don't begin to mesh with the claimed continuity/timeline placement and the show feels more palatable if pretending it takes place in the Kelvin/JJ timeline. Even then, I wasn't an avid viewer, there's a lot of cringe in enough episodes, and that one-dimensional tribble farce was (IMHO, YMMV) almost impressively off-putting - even in the context of the timeline. But season 3 takes the show centuries into the future. And with different production staff, so it's not impossible for the show to improve - heck, even that V remake from 2009 ended on an finale that finally got the show going (only took two years and with more clunker episodes) but was not renewed so we'll never know if the show would have continued upward from there and it's actually a shame, despite it all. But I'm waiting on reviews before doing any form of rental.

I've guessed at 3 seasons, simply because ensemble casts are very difficult to pin down for long runs.

The Trek standard is seven (that's how long TNG, DS9, and Voyager lasted).

A streaming show, OTOH, is another matter entirely.

True. It's only been 8 years since streaming started, and so far the longest running live action series, Orange is the New Black, just completed its 7 year run.

Disco can go awhile (the cast is relatively young).

I'm not sure about Picard, though (Who wants to see Sir Patrick shuffling about onscreen?)

He won't have to shuffle though...
