how is your day?

Tomalak, I find it admirable that you don't give up. I have a friend in LA who is much like you - he's been searching for a job for years and all he ever gets are unpayed internships. But he won't give up either. As TSQ's example shows, constancy can (and hopefully will for you!) pay off in the long run.

Thanks Rhubarbodendron. :)

It's been long going but I do keep productive throughout this job search. I've taken on Substitute Custodian roles (Actually going to work this afternoon) and I do tax work on occasion. I think the thing that sucks the most is I don't have that many friends/Contacts so when I'm told to Network and to come up with target companies, I'm not entirely sure how to do that. Still, something will happen eventually because it's not good to give up hope. You do that and life just isn't worth living.

^I'm glad you're keeping up hope. It is so hard...unemployment really takes a huge toll on every aspect of one's life. I will never take my job for granted.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone! I'm certainly thrilled!

I'm glad you have a new place to live Zion R. I have moved recently myself and I know the relief of finding a place.
Thanks, Shanndee. :)

Today's been an OK day - rather lazy, compared to other days this week. Spent most of it watching the build-up to the SportsFest Opening Ceremony on the television, and catching up on the Twitter. :bolian:

I so agree, Tomalak!
Have you tried to use TrekBBS to find some target companies? Most users here are from the US and even if they know of no fitting company they might have friends or relatives who know one.
I suppose you tried Craig's List already?

You said you applied to like 10 jobs a day when you were in your job search. How did you do that exactly? Where they internet applications or did you know a lot of people who gave you ideas of who was hiring at the time.

I don't apply to 10 places a day, but it would be nice to know who exactly is hiring, which is why I asked the question.

I have used Craig's list (Even when told that's not the way to find a job) but no I haven't used the board, since people may be from the US, but it's everywhere in the country. Of course in networking, it's all about extending contacts so that is something to consider.

Almost all (99%) of the jobs I applied for were online, primarily through craigslist and idealist, and sometimes through companies' and organizations' own websites. I actually got my job through a craigslist ad.

Australis, perhaps you saw the headline somewhere, unconsciousely. Or you heard it in the news from the radio of a car that passed by the bus stop?
Nope, it wasn't announced until just after 9am, after I'd been at work half an hour.

Things like this have happened in the past, but not for a long time.

My job interview is this afternoon, wish me luck!

Yesterday was a good day. I was excited about my interview today and allowed myself to relax a bit. I hung out with some friends and ended up breaking my sexual dry spell. I'm hoping today is made of the same winning material. :techman:

I'm hoping to land the job, and either way my friends and I are catching a few movies afterward.

I hope the interview goes well Kirkman. Good luck!

I think today is going to be very mellow for me. It is cool and overcast, so it is a good day to finally watch "Brave". We'll be meeting a friend for brunch then heading to the theatre for a matinee.

Can I just say how much I love the fact that my husband enjoys animated movies? I never have to twist his arm to go out to enjoy a "cartoon"!

Cheers!

My interview went pretty well, although It's a longer process than I expected. They claimed it could be 7-10 days before I hear about the second round of interviews. Looks like I need to get back to applying to more stuff just in case (and to pass the time). At the very least they seemed impressed.

The rest of the day was great. I Hung out with friends and caught a few flicks. We watched Invasion U.S.A. and In Brudges. I also got my Adam West autograph in the mail. Overall a great day.

^ In Bruges (no "d") is one of my favorite movies. It's hilarious.

Just kicking back at home-- watched some episodes of The Nerdist, and may go to the grocery store later. Have some appointments tomorrow, but don't go back to work until Tuesday. It's just another lazy Sunday afternoon.

Slept in pretty late, ran a couple of errands (paid in a cheque, then bought groceries) and now watching the Olympic diving. Nice relaxed day so far, and a good way to start the week.
