How do you approach watching Star Trek

So since I joined I've been observing the varying strengths of opinion on various series, episodes, themes.

I can't say I agree with all of them, maybe even many of them, what with us all being individuals with different things that male us tick.

What it does seem to me though is that as far as things go, I seem to find fewer faults than most (not in terms of not picks and the like that I enjoy finding to take the piss but in terms of something that would spoil and episode or series for me. Not calling anyone out or meaning this in a negative way but most on the board know Lynx's feelings on Kes and how when Kes left it massively impacted their enjoyment of the series)

For me, I love Trek. I remember my first ever episode. I may even have finally got around to having seen every episode at least twice (one of the few upsides of Rona being that bars have been closed so instead it's been series binges). That said, when I watch it I am a pure face value kind of guy.

The various writers, producers, show runners etc are telling me a story set inside the Trek universe as opposed to telling me a Star Trek story. I want to see how different people's takes on it and so there is no wrong story for me. The greater variety of stories and styles, the bigger the world that there then is to investigate.

Mileage will vary on that approach and there is the odd episode here or there that won't do it for me but to me there is no Bad Trek or ruination of vision.

This isn't my story or my world, I'm a guest in theirs so what right do I have to say what they did is wrong?

By the same token, we are all our own people and that's what I want to understand is others approach and the logic/reasoning behind

Old Trek --> I'll watch some episode once in a blue moon. Sometimes I'll watch a few. No particular order. TOS and TNG only. DS9 and VOY look horrible on my HDTV. Sorry. Maybe they'll fare better on the projector I just got. We'll see.

ENT --> I binged it once in 2010, and again in 2020. Otherwise, it's not something I watch.

New Trek --> I'll re-watch a season of DSC or PIC from start-to-finish. Then watch it again at a later point. I've only seen each episode of Lower Decks once.

The Movies --> I'll put on whichever one I feel like, if it strikes my fancy. There's no rhyme or reason to it. If I watch one, it'll probably be a few years before I watch it again. I'm much more likely to watch the TOS Movies or First Contact than any of the others.

EDITED TO ADD: The above doesn't include the complete re-watch of TNG that I did, and some of VOY, during the months leading up to the release of Picard.

Our measuring system is outdated, I agree.

CONVERT FEET TO MILES: Divide by 5,280. Anyone got a calculator?
CONVERT METERS TO KILOMETERS: Move the little dot three places.

I just pick a series to watch, watch them in order skipping only the really bad ones.

I like the feeling of being immersed in a vast detailed universe. To me that’s what sets prime universe Trek apart from other franchises.

It doesn’t have to always be consistent, but it should be close enough for the feels.

Well I'm kinda that kind of person who just like watching every episode in order at the first time.
But I mostly rewatch TNG and some of the movies, sometimes others series.
