How about William Shatner for a voice over?

Savoy 1984

Ensign
Red Shirt
Please be gentle as this is my second post, but if they have the spoken intro "Space the final frontier" etc, why not get Shatner to do it, I think that would be a nice way to get him involved some how.

Shatner doing the voiceover surely would be more authentic than anybody else doing it, but I still think Shatner should be in the film in person. Nothing else makes real sense to me. Doing a mere voiceover wouldn't do him justice and would feel like a poor compensation, imo. Besides, I don't think he would feel up to doing such thing, anyway.

it will not be star trek without the great william shatner as he has made it the most defined and recognizable creation since history gegan.

i think we should launch an internet petition to have him re-instated into the film.

anyone know how to contact jj.abrahams?

the best way of bringing him in would be for him to sit behind a enormous wooden desk dressed in red over the shoulder uniform as in st2 sourrounded by
commanders and captains as captain KIRK WOULD BE an ADMIRAL now.

As a cadet whispers reads him a report kirk goes into deep thought and turns towards the camara and says a single word.

"EXECUTE"

The camera zooms out to reveal asdmiral kirk sitting at a gigantic starfleet command console with his face depicting gravitas and meloncholy as he says the word execute.

then the camera zooms out and out to reveal starbase 67 on fire as it is being pummled by klingons who believe that kirk has dishonored them by snatching a planet belonging to them planet.

as he says execute a antimatter ring engulfs starbase 67 destroying the klingons and making the camera switch to pine kirk many years earlier to his childhood.

i am willing to write a letter to him or email him beseeching that shatner be in the film as the majority of members here want him going by the numerous polls.

I agree, it's not ST without the Shat. Below's the link of the official BBK site - there you can find the addresses you may send your letter to. I've registered with them, yet I don't think writing letters to Abrams will help that much. But if you go for that internet petition or something like that, I might be interested. Keep me posted. :)

I dunno, I rather think that much of gegan's creative output during his South Pacific period is pretty well-defined and recognizable. Still, your understatement of Shatner's contribution to civilization and the history of art shows admirable and unusual restraint.

i think we should launch an internet petition to have him re-instated into the film.

I wouldn't mind Shatner doing a voice over. In fact, I wouldn't mind at all if Shatner and Nimoy both had one.

Shatner's voice should be dubbed over all of Nimoy's dialog. (No attention should be drawn to this fact by anyone, and Shatner's name should not be listed anywhere in the credits.)

Here's a thought. I'm playing devils advocate here.

If Shatner was in the film, could it be kept a secret? Is it possible?

I'm 99.99 percent certain he won't be in it, mainly because everything we have been led to believe about the script seems to suggest otherwise, partly due to Shatner's protestations, but mainly because I think we would know about it. The internet spoils everything these days and I honestly believe that if Shatner was involved in this movie then we would know about it. Somebody would spill.

Having said that, the production generally seems to be pretty tight. We are still feeding on scraps, we don't really know the plot (although we assume) and we've only really seen some long distance shots of some red tracksuits, a few Imperial officers and a space car.

Truthfully, I don't think it will affect the film's success either way - but does anyone think it would be possible to keep any cameo from The Shat a secret?

They've done fairly well keeping everything else under wraps so far. Could they keep it secret if they wanted to?

You know, in my heart of hearts I would love to see it. I saw the TJ hooker episode with Leonard Nimoy this morning and it was ace. Those guys have such great chemistry together. The episode lacked a rooftop chase, but it had one and a half car chases. :D

Nimoy is an old buddy/partner of Hookers from "way back". He goes a bit rogue at the end of the episode though forcing Hooker to take action. He crosses the line...

If it's not Star Trek without "the Shat", then how do you account for those hundreds of hours of Star Trek that I've enjoyed that don't have Shatner in it? :p
