Yeah i agree... she can teach the Academy in her own sleep .

15 people working under her seems a bit much. But she should AT LEAST have been a lieutenant.

And she should have overseen the other 3 or 4 communications officers. I can't imagine that she was the only linguistic expert on board.

Remember in "Twilight" under circumstances where Starfleet was nearly gone, Tucker and Reed were Captains and Hoshi did at least make it to Lieutenant (Poor Mayweather was a dead Ensign, still!!) so she does have something

I remember reading in TV Guide years ago that, originally, there were two Lieutenants on ENT (main cast): Malcolm and either Travis or Hoshi (can't remember which), but it was later changed as they felt that it would seem unrealistic to have a many higher-ranked officers on a ship of 80 or something like that.
