Hope Hicks, Donald & Melania Trump Contract COVID

Don't even know what concern trolling is, so I have no way of knowing if I'm doing it or not.

But not wishing to irritate an Admin, I propose that we agree to disagree on politics. And whether we want Trump to be jobless in January of 2021 or not, wish him a quick recovery.

I may be an admin, but this is not one of the particular forums I moderate, ergo it is not a place where I hand out warnings outside of exceptional cases such as spamming. You, therefore, are more than free to disagree with me, just as I am free to consider your arguments wholly without merit and entirely disingenuous under the guise of "decorum" and intellectually dishonest appeals to the "good ol' days" or whatever.

Probably saying that a 2 person income house wasn't needed. Not that the woman couldn't work, just that she didn't have to. How much money is spent on daycare a month? Alot of family's would love a 1 person income house. For most both HAVE to work to make ends meet. And kids are taken care of by realitive strangers.
1 job, not even what we call a great job, made enough to cover everything. Granted back then we didn't have bills for cable, internet, cell phones.

Back then, a dollar went a whole lot farther than it does now.

I was a child of the 70's, not the 50's, and I have no illusions about good old days. Each decade had its ups and downs. If nothing else, the video games have gotten better.

As one of those relative strangers, and I agree, daycare is not an ideal situation. I was single and childless and expected to remain so (correctly), so I cared very much for my kids, aware that they were as close as I would ever get to actual parenthood. But, a lot of daycare teachers I met were inexperienced, burned out, or just had the wrong temperament for the job.

Blindly following it has consequences with covid as well, which is what I did. If we had listened to the one coworker offering masks over the US surgeon general recommendation not to buy a mask, the entire office would have been masked up and stopping the spread long before the actual science caught up to reality. Myself listening to that and informing them of the guideline hurt us more than the ridiculous idea of using bleach.
This irresponsible line of thinking was thoroughly debunked in the other thread, so you just took your show on the road and repeated it elsewhere? Like I concluded there, you have no interest in the truth, you just want to blindly continue to cling to and preach your misconceptions and misinformation no matter how many people it hurts. You are discouraging people from listening to evidence-based research and reporting, all based on some anecdote about "a coworker" and a weird grudge about science.

Just because your one coworker suggested something (which was itself based on previous scientific study from previous pandemics) that a consensus of experts later came to the same conclusion about after actual testing and collecting extensive data doesn't mean you disregard all subsequent science in favor of Tim in accounting's hunches, or conclude that scientific research is totally hit and miss and not worth listening to.

If I seem harsh it's because half this administration is coming down with Covid now because of their irresponsible behavior and people still are spreading deliberate misinformation about not trusting the actual experts that the Trump admin have caused. Trump and his ilk have interfered with, confused, and suppressed the process of the experts doing their jobs and disseminating the information to the public and now they are paying the price for it, but people still take them seriously. You don't agree with not wearing masks, but you do agree with undermining scientists, which is just as damaging, not only in this pandemic but elsewhere.

You seem to run into this assessment from people a lot, Oddish. Maybe the vaunted debate skills you're always going on about aren't actually that great and you should change tactics a bit? Be less of a braggart. Stop constantly making bold claims and not backing them up. Stop shifting goalposts. Stop posting drive-bys and then running away from the discussion. Stuff like that.

I never said I was a skilled debater. Just that I had a lot of experience, especially in certain subjects. And I know where those discussions go.

All I'm saying is that your manner of debate seems to be rubbing several different people the wrong way, so perhaps you can try and change your style (not your opinion, unless you want to) a bit.

I've observed the same. The old saw "never discuss religion or politics" seems to be very relevant here.

I always go with Billy Joel... the good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems.

The old saw "never discuss religion or politics" seems to be very relevant here.

The only reasons not to discuss religion or politics is if you're afraid your ideas don't hold up under scrutiny or you're afraid your mind will be changed.

Or you're stuck in quarantine hell and don't need your life to get any worse right now.

Or you're stuck in quarantine hell and don't need your life to get any worse right now.

Why would quarantine have anything to do with discussing politics and religion on a message board? Why would it make your life worse? If anything you have the power to control that by simply staying out of the thread instead of doing drive-by and goalpost shifting posting.

Just look at how ugly this dispute has already gotten. And I'm not even quite sure what we're even fighting about. My initial point was that I wanted Trump to recover quickly so that the quarantine wouldn't be extended. Next thing I know, I'm "concern trolling" and "goalpost shifting" and pulling "drive-bys".

I don't see an ugly dispute. Are you only calling it ugly because the facts simply don't line up the way you want them to?

Next thing I know, I'm "concern trolling" and "goalpost shifting" and pulling "drive-bys".

Because that is exactly what you are doing. It isn't "ugly" to call someone out on their behavior. When you make a statement, refuse to respond to posters questioning that statement, then act like you're on some moral high ground... that is drive-by posting.

If you want to make statements that you don't want to expand on, a blog with the comments turned off is probably going to be a far more satisfying experience for you.
