I couldn't wear high heels until I stopped growing because of a tight heel cord. I probably started wearing them about 18. I do wear them now sometimes , but only about 1 or 1.5 inches height. I used to be in marching band, so I actually have pretty nice looking calves without heels. Some high heeled shoes look so cool, I wish I was more comfortable wearing the taller shoes. I say to each her own, or his own as the case may be.

1-1.5 inches is pretty much my standard, I have only a few pairs (sandals, moccasins, and sneakers) that have no heal. I'm fairly short at 5'3" so that extra inch and a half can actually be pretty useful. I do have these for special occasions, though. They're completely impractical, but a hell of a lot of fun, and that, to those wondering what the point is, is the point:

I've always liked my shoes flat and I'm particularly fond of heavy flat boots that feel like I could kick the crap out of something. I wear them with a skirt. That look.

I've got a couple pairs of heels I wear for boring special events, like weddings.
