Hey, I never noticed that before....

Absolutely
But it wouldn't have been a stretch of the imagination that some of the crew were shitting it and thought "Fuck this"
Like Bailey did.
The countdown was ludicrous in the extreme, in my humble opinion :techman:
I thought it was just a distraction to ease the tension. Chill everyone.

Agreed. "Corbomite" is one of my favorite episodes, this must have been at least the tenth time I've watched it in high def (plus countless viewings in the 35 years prior to getting the blurays) and I never noticed until now.
I noticed it but never thought he was holding it backwards just weirdly like he has to keep it close or something. Like he was super concerned.

The hero prop had a barrel that extended when the thumbwheel was turned. It operated in conjunction with the sight pushing up the plate on the top. Shatner was probably told to turn it around on later takes, so it would look correct.

That explains why the photo in TMOST shows internal parts! I've always wondered what that was about, and suspected they faked the image to make it look like a "real" phaser. Nope. I've wondered that since I was a little kid.

Naturally, the Photobucket free account banner takes a perfect dump on my image:

Let's see if I can fix that:

Once outside of the Talosian influence Pike would have reverted to being a cripple in his wheelchair with a battery driven heart! That or it was Chris's younger brother, Jeffrey Henry Herman McInnies Pike!

Once outside of the Talosian influence
We know they can influence minds out to Starbase 11. There may not be a limit: could be infinite. Side note: their mind power reaches many lightyears with no time delay. What are the range and the speed of thought?
Jeffrey Henry Herman McInnies Pike
Jeffrey Hunter (born Henry Herman "Hank" McKinnies Jr.). To be exact, JB: you missed "Hank" and "Jr."; last name has a "K". I had to look it up on the net cause you confuse me.

Surely Hank is Henry anyway? So was his actual name Henry Herman Henry McKinnies Jr or just Jeff Hunter?
Well I'm glad I confuse you, Henoch, proves I'm good at something then! :nyah:

Spock was able to sense the Intrepid’s destruction and V’ger over many light years, I guess that psi-abilities in Trek must manifest through subspace or something.

He's a series regular in Discovery, right?

Henry McInnies Jr, Nerys, who used to act under the name of Jeffrey Hunter and whose most famous character after Jesus was Capt.Christopher Pike of Star Trek fame! :D
JB

I heard Pike was Spock's bro. Twice removed. Or something. No? (I haven't seen any of this season of DISC yet - all kidding aside I hope that it is good.)
