Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDANCE!

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

Yup. The first DTI novel was commissioned by Jaime Costas during her brief tenure as editor, though she was gone by the time I actually wrote it. Subsequent DTI projects have been at the invitation of Margaret Clark.

I actually suggested a DTI novel to Marco at New York Comic-Con a couple of years before, but it was an offhand suggestion that I didn't really have much faith in at the time, so neither of us really felt it was worth pursuing. I only included it on my list of pitches to Jaime for the sake of completeness; I never thought it would actually go anywhere.

Personally I'm rather glad you did. :)

Blurb today for this book on The Trek Collective. I'm wondering if the book is a flashback to the events surrounding the Ascendants or totally set at that point in the timeline. The big question now is, would a newcomer read Ascendance just after The Soul Key or after Sacraments of Fire. Too soon to tell I know, but I am so looking foward to this book!

Thank you so much DRGIII, editors, and everyone at Pocket for finally giving us this story.

I am hoping it is a flashback brought on by the event of RaD and SoF. I can't wait to see what happens!

DS9 needs some gaps to be filled, indeed. Lookin´forward to it either. :techman:

Captain Kira, Commander Vaughn, Iliana Ghemor....... Wow...........

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

That blurb basically describes a five minute scene, not an entire book.

.

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

^It's not a blurb's job to describe the entire book. It's a teaser. There are a number of Trek novels whose blurbs basically describe the opening scenes and nothing beyond them. If it makes you want to know what happens next, then it's done its job.

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

It's also sometimes true that, lacking a blurb, they'll use the first couple paragraphs of the author's outline. That's happened before. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the beginning of DRG3's outline.

Regardless:

:bolian: Thank you Pocket books for letting DRG write the Ds9 story fans have been wanting to fill in the missing pieces of the storyline after The Soul Key.:) :)

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

I think this blurb has probably made a lot of a DS9R fans very happy, I it has made this one happy.

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

Well I for one am now interested.

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

I wonder how big it will be? It feels like it should be a pretty weighty tome to cover all the ground suggested in past novels, as well as to meet our mounted expectations :D

Brilliant news! Nice to see Vaughn plays a leading role.

Do we know for sure that the whole story is going to be told in just this book? I know it wasn't announced as part of a miniseries, but DS9 has always been pretty arc heavy, so I wouldn't be surprised if DRGIII took more than one book to tell the story Ascendance appears to be telling.

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

There is still a big gap to be filled. It would be nice to see that it isn´t rushed in one single novel.

Re: Hey, everyone! DRG's DS9 novel after Sacraments is called ASCENDA

It could be a longer novel. I think DRGIII could do it well in a longer novel, that way we get the story as well as are able to continue the current continuity in the following book.
