Heroes: "Acceptance" 10/5 - Grading & Discussion

This episode was a tad on the dull side, I must admit, but I'm glad they're at least trying to focus on the characters and their lives and relationships with each other, even though they're not succeeding with everyone -- Tracy and Hiro in particular. Hopefully whatever Samuel has planned for Hiro will help bring him into more of a core storyline; he and Ando have felt way too isolated from the rest of the cast for too long, which only adds to making them seem kind of pointless.

I did like "Nathan's" story this week, and I'm interested in seeing where that goes. Nice to see Swoosie Kurtz back after her brief cameo last season. I loved her friendly interaction with Angela while she, as far as she knows, is having the woman's son murdered. Boy, is she gonna be in for a surprise...

'Nathan' playing The Dead Zone, and Hiro playing Quantum Leap just reminded me about how much more I liked those shows than this.

Are we going to have alternating weeks of real Sylar and Parkman Sylar? Why did we see Sylar clawing out of the ground if presumably he has to make Matt fix him to remember who he is? Is he just going to morph back into Nathan at the start of the next episode wondering wtf happened again?

Anything involving Noah and Claire I can't stand. God that girl is obnoxious... nothing like a bad actor playing a bad character. I guess I could handle Noah if they got rid of Claire. Why does Claire constantly fail at having a normal life anyway? She has the easiest power in history to conceal, well, at least for a few years, like college. Don't do anything that makes the average person die. HOW HARD IS THAT? Congrats, you are now a normal college girl. Just write her out of the show. I'd prefer they gave her the ol' chain her to an anchor with an unbreakable tether, and toss her ass into Marianas trench, so we can forget about her for all time, and if we happen to remember we're secure in the knowledge that she's suffering horribly route. But just get rid of her, anyway you can.

And for good ol' T-Bag, they gave him what... 30 seconds worth of material? Way to move the plot along guys! I might have a heart attack considering the rollercoaster ride pace you're setting. Downright breakneck! As in, breaking my neck might be preferable to watching another episode.

Wow, the gift of low expectations. I decided to go into this expecting it to be awful, so I could just find it amusing.

So, Kelly's mom is a lush and, apparently, down with having people murdered. Cool! She's gonna be so surprised when Nathan comes back. If he comes back looking like Nathan, I mean. Which is the only way that would be fun.

It was hilarious when Tracy tried to have a heart-to-heart with Governor Sheridan and he basically told her, "Look, you're just a hot pair of legs to me, so let's go fuck and call it a day."

The Epic of the Xeroxed Ass was kind of funny, at least at the beginning, but managed to be tedious at the end, with awkward crying and some very odd directing that had me wondering exactly what was going on there. And then Hiro vanished. Poof! Hopefully he went back 100 million years to get stepped on by a dinosaur.

I hope Peter goes batshit insane once he realizes what his mom did.

The Noah/Claire stuff was okay, just drawn out. Why the hell do we have so much fucking filler in this show? It's a shortened season, people! Use your time wisely! Oh, but they don't know how...

But they got Milo and Hayden to exchange words on screen. You just know some asshole in the writers' room thought that up. "How mean can we be? Let's make them talk to each other. Mwahahahaha! Angst! Drama!"

I'd rather have seen 45 minutes of Matt having a Sylar head trip. And I wish Hiro would've jumped, too. Oh well. They better pay off the "Hiro is dying" storyline by having him actually fucking die.

No, they kill off interesting characters with potential like Nathan. They'll leave Hiro and Tracy alive forever.

What was the point of Tracy? She wanted to come back, and she did. But once she got there she realized she didn't want to go back to that life? Was that it? I was kind of dozing off at that point, but she decided all of this because her hands/arms turned into water? So she couldn't go back to that life because of her crazy water body power?

Ali Larters characters have been pretty bad. I have a hard time remembering which character she is playing. Is Tracy connected to Micah in anyway? What happened to Micah anyway? Wasn't he the mole helping out people when Danko was in charge?

Even Danko was a great character, but Tracy is just confusing. Do something with her! Have her turn bad, and start to do villianous type stuff so someone else can turn into a hero.

I turn into a show called Heroes to see people use powers. Shouldn't Heroes have a bigger budget than Mutant X? Wasn't that on UPN or WPIX awhile back? At least they used their super powers.

And so far only one villian...Sylar? And before last ep, he was trapped in another body! Maybe T-Bag will be a good villian, but have him do something already.

I still like Heroes. But the show is frustrating. I guess I have such high expectations, there are many cool things they did in the past and recently the show is below par.

Based on the episodes I'd say that in the next episode Nathan/Sylar will still have Nathan's mind he'll just have Sylar's face which will freak out everyone and confuse the hell out of him. He'll still be "Nathan" mentally, since they've already shown "Sylar" is in Matt's head.

No no, she realized that she'd made a mistake wanting her old life back when she realized all the senator wanted was a whore. Her hands turning to water was a stress reaction to that realization.

OH that makes sense, but she came across as wanting to come back, she even said "I'm back." Didn't she realize that the Senator would expect her to be the whore that she was....I am missing the point where she goes from wanting to go back to that life, to not wanting to go back to that life. I am trying not to be obtuse, but I just didn't follow her reasoning very well.

I voted excellent because of someone saying how I read it, you must have been stupid to like this episode. It had excellent character changes and motivations, that are probably important to the characters and storyline. All I see from most of the posters on here that there was no action...NOW that would be a show, all action and NO plot.... I did find this episode highly interesting ,...especially "Sylar" popping out from the Hitman's grave rather than "Nathan"

And that is pretty much the only reason I force myself through bad episodes like this one. Give give me a big ole honking epic operatic meltdown for Peter, leading to the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny with Sylar, and then you can cancel the whole damn show.

Yeah if these writers have any sense, they will not miss the chance to have Quinto playing Nathan, a nicely ironic counterpart to the times when Pasdar has played Sylar.

Even better, if "Nathan" realizes he really is Sylar, but prefers his Nathan mentality and doesn't want to give it up. Since "Nathan" is far healthier the way he is now than as Sylar, the audience should sympathize with him, but Matt needs to divest himself of head-Sylar just to retain his own sanity, which will force him to do something unforgiveable - to kill a decent person in order to restore a lunatic.

She is one of the twins/triplets/quads. They keep it flexible so they can kill her off and bring her back with a new power. Yay.

Ha my buddy graduated from Belleville (probably '88). It was said that Frankie Valley was the janitor at Belleville HS before he made it big as a singer. My buddy's father said he could hear Frankie singing as he mopped the hallways.

I too didn't realize that there are many Jersey folks on the board. Until after I left and moved here then I started seeing all these Jersey locations in peoples profiles.
