Nathan Petrelli: Fastest Move From Appointed Senator to Chairman of a Major Senate Committee EVER

Seriously, how much blackmail material was needed for the president to pull that one off?
Are you questioning President Worf's ability? Dishonorable petaQ! :klingon:

I thought this episode was a pretty good start for the season. Hopefully they'll be able to keep up the quality.

It seems like they may have nerfed Peter, it will be interesting to see if he is able to fly next episode or if he can only have one power at a time.

It was ok for the first 3/4, but the last 15 minutes or so really amped up the energy and quality. The orange sensory-deprivation suits were frightening and affecting, and I'm a sucker for slow-motion haunting music montages, a la "Peter is going to fall out of the plane."

I have no idea what his power(s) is(are) anymore, because if he could still fly, he wouldn't have been so afraid to fall out. He used the Arthur-like ability of taking powers via contact, but I'm not clear on where/how he picked that up, and if it's even the same power. We'll have to see if NicI mean Jessica can still freeze things, and if Mohinder still has super-strength. (Speaking of Mohinder, is he not turning into a lizard anymore?)

In any event, this was a lot more interesting than the majority of the "Villains" storyline, so I'll keep watching and keep ignoring the glaring inconsistencies. I don't think the show will ever be season 1-good again, but it can still be a fun escape if they try.

I thought Peter could fly. I guess he doesn't keep his powers anymore.

Yeah, that's my guess. Peter probably keeps one power until he takes a new one. The big question is whether there is any effect (temporary or long-term) on the person whose powers are being absorbed.

That's what I thought had happened...I just didn't get the implication from his bout with the formula that while he's no longer a lizard, he still has super strength. Or has he always been able to rip doors off of cabs? :D

It seems that the perfected formula has purified Mohinder of the flawed formula he'd injected himself with previously, so he's retained his powers while losing the nasty side effects. They didn't imply that his powers were still there at the end of Villains, but I figured he'd either keep them, or he'd have some new power instead.

Reasonable. Not quite I was expecting I suppose. Loved Sylar smashing up that hit-squad. Loved Ando.

I note that the usual Heroes characters doing stupid things is already happening - ffs Nathan just stick Claire on the fucking plane with the rest of them. Honestly, who is he trying to keep happy? Now we're set up for yet more I HATEZ YOU DAD!!!! from her for another 11 episodes. AGAIN.

And Matt can paint the just-barely-future now. Great. When I saw the shaman's name come up in the credits, I roared in fury. Just drop it pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. Less future painting, more Ando-cycle.

Yes, the precognitive painting is getting really annoying. The future isn't interesting. The present is what's interesting (and occasionally the past).

Yeah, that's my guess. Peter probably keeps one power until he takes a new one. The big question is whether there is any effect (temporary or long-term) on the person whose powers are being absorbed.

My guess is that he exchanges powers with the one he touches. He touched Mohinder and got super strength, then he touched Tracy and lost his super strength only to get the freezing ability. If that's true, then Mohinder can now fly and Tracy has super strength.

Which means that Mohinder can fly after Peter to save him. But what about the others? They are about to crash in that plane!

awesome episode. very good start. And Mohinder was never going to turn into a lizard. Lizards don't cacoon their prey, nor themselves. They do however shed their skin.

Hmmm... Above Average - but then again I had *really* low expectations to begin with.

My favorite scene was probably the taxi scene between Peter and Mohinder... I nice quiet throwback to season 1.

This could be an effective start of a volume - but it would have made more sense if they had been publicly "outed" first. Given the history of the show I am very skeptical they can pull it off, but I'll keep watching for a little while.

Average. I felt it was a bit slow compared to previous shows. A slower pace is good, but I just did not feel that compelled by what was happening. Perhaps because we were basically just catching up this episode. Next week will be a better test since we are now up to speed.

And I agree, we need more Moto-Ando. Maybe with a giant robot.

I'm trying to watch this episode now and it's already annoying me...

What is it with this constant whining "oooh, I want to be normal"
"boo hooo, I want to forget and never use my abilities and have a normal boring life"

Yeah but that goes as far back even as I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched. "It's better to play at being normal than use your natural abilities."

I didn't buy it then, either.

Okay, while I'm not in the whole "Ando-cycle" thing, I did love Hiro basically playing sidekick. I was hoping they'd go that way, and they did.

And the Fugitive/Con Air riff, while a bit over the top, worked. I just wonder who the poor schlub whose chair got sucked out of the plane before we even got to see who they were is, and whether or not we'll be dealing with them again. And I like the new twist to Peter's ability, even if it means the return of Emo Hair.

I like that we don't know WTF is up with Noah Bennett again. When he's a question mark, things tend to be more interesting.

And goddess help me, they've actually managed to make me not want Sylar killed off. At least not until I see where this storyline goes. The idea that the pretty much unrepentant serial killer is the only one who can kick the hunters' collective asses? Makes for some interesting story potential. I just hope they do something interesting instead of what we got for volumes 2 and 3.

Also, where's Molly?

Re Matt and what's-her-name---I suppose her superspeed makes sex invariably successful, for her at least. But afterwards, how can he stand her? He's nice, but she's such a pill.

Re African Isaac---I liked the original Isaac just fine, and this one's lack of personality is a little offputting. It makes me think unkind thoughts about Heroes color vision.

Re Nathan and Peter---Nathan is so much more compelling I'm more in favor of Mutant Registration at this point. A guy who knows his future self tried to murder his own brother would be less self-righteous I think. Oh, wait, this is Peter Petrelli.

If a plane crash can be enthralling, things are going wrong.

Below average. I guess my dream of a show with Adrian Pasdar, Christine Rose, Jack Coleman, Greg Grunberg, Masi Oka and James Kyson Lee isn't coming true, ever.

I think Nathan held back on openly revealing just who they were going after and why because it would cause an open panic amongst the population. Sure, they could just say "They're terrorist suspects" but it's still easier to try and contain them without anyone knowing anything and just going ahead with life as usual. After they escape THEN he'll out them.

I do wonder how that'll work since outing his own brother can't be good for him and his career...
