Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

So is there anything else, besides pointing out the obvious and summarizing the episode, that people talk about in these weekly threads?

Well, I, for one, am hoping the Arena Breast makes a special appearance.
Sylar isn't mam petrelli's son, she is just using her mind powers to brain wash Sylar into thinking he is her son, nothing more.

Agreed. I don't think Sylar is her son, rather I think she's using her "power of persuasion" to manipulate him. We now know that she sees the future in her dreams, but we've also seen these characters use more than one ability. I'm guessing we're getting, implicitly, into a "class" system for the "mutants," with Peter and Sylar at one end and men like Alchemy Man at the other.

and OMG the actress who plays Claire cannot play evil at all
I forgot about that scene, probably because it was at the very beginning of the first episode. If the writers are smart we will never see evil Claire again.

Too... much... leather.:eek::lol:

Hayden Pantiesindryair in too much leather?

Impossible.

;)

But I will say she can't act much at all. Evil, in emotional or physical pain, emotive, etc. She's just a pretty body to look at which is good enough for me.

I loved the effect of the "wake" ribbons Flash-Girl left and Hiro walking through them. That was pretty neat.

Future Peter couldn't confide in Nathan because he was afraid of affecting his past....

Shooting him doesn't affect his past? Peter couldn't try? He was going into the past to change it anyway and take the risks. Shooting Nathan should have been Peter's last impulse, not his first. If he was angry at Nathan in the future, why the forehead kiss, the apology, and his words that he hoped Nathan would be able to forgive him.

No sense at all.
Since you took that line so seriously, you must have missed the punchline:

Yeah, that's not supposed to make any sense to us, but it seems to be the level that Peter's operating on...!
I can just imagine a pre-episode conversation between Future Peter and Future Hiro....

FP: "I have to go back and stop Nathan from telling everyone about us, to prevent all of this from happening!"
FH: "But if you go back and tell Flying Man about the future, you could create a rift in the space-time continuum!"
FP: "Yeah...I guess I'll have to shoot him...!"
FH: "Wait...!"
[Future Peter disappears.]
FH: "Idiot."

Ah, I love this show. So dumb. So hilarious. :techman:

Could they really have a nod to Nikki and the New Orleans superfriends? Was there even anyone during season three that knew about what Nikki was up to? Because she was separated from everyone else for most of season two.

The injection that Sylar took from Mohinder was to save Nikki's life, so Mohinder knew where Nikki was, because Sylar grabbed him just as he was leaving to go to New Oreleans.

Yeah. So either the building explosion killed Niki or the Shanti Virus killed her since she never got the cure.

I think it's strange that some people still think that Tracy is another one of Niki's personalities when all signs point to her being a completely different person.

I think a major problem with this show is that the action is drven by the stupidty of the characters. Suresh stupidly injects himself. Peter's brainless attempts to affect the past were brainless. Hiro not listening to his father and taking the formula out was stupid. Hell, Kaito not destroying the formula in the first place is probably stupid too.

While we're on the subject of Hiro, would everyone agree with me that taking the formula out of his father's safe was an incredibly selfish thing to do? God forbid he can't run around as a hero...his destiny comes before the safety of the entire planet. There can be no justification for Hiro's actions whatsoever.

From what I gathered, the message Kaito made was made when he didn't know what Hiro had become and thought he was just that cubicle drone with no purpose in life. If Kaito had redone it in light of his new "destiny", I'm sure he would have told Hiro what it was and trusted him more. Hiro assumed this as well.

I agree. Hiro pulling out the document/whatever was just incredibly dumb and reeked of "we need to do something to start Hiro's plot" and contrivance.

"Hiro. Don't do this, or people will die and the world will end!"
"No. I'm going to do it anyway, because I want to be a hero and save people!"

Great. I want to save people too. I guess I should just set fire to a building just so I can rush in to pull people out of the fire.

I'm sure no one will mind.

As for where Daphne came from, I really think it's pretty early to get worked up over what we do and do not know. We've only seen her in the first two episodes, there's still plenty of time to explain where she came from and all of that.

With Daphne, there was a comic which was told more about her backstory a few weeks ago.

True. But you would think Hiro would have changed, and possibly grown up some from his experiences in (shudder) Season Two.

But. Nope.

A few random thoughts---

John Carpenter wants his scene back.

And George Lucas wants his scene back too.

Supervirgin has lost sensation after being butchered? Is this a covert femal
SuperAndo with the power of purple passion and SackMonkey Mohinder make it official---Ordinary people have no role on this show.

and David Cronenberg wants his scene (the fly) back:
Mohinder's last two scenes were totally lifted from that movie.

I'm pretty sure it's just a homage. No one writes those scenes without realizing they are taken from The Fly.;)

The current storyline as it has been shown so far owes alot to the X-men "days of future past" storyline i remember from the comics as a kid.

RE: Linderman's Resurrection.

Wasn't Linderman a loyal subject of Adam Monroe? And we know that Monroe's Blood can heal death. Add to this the fact that aside from a couple killings we really don't know where Monroe was between the time he split up with Peter after healing Nathan and hooking back up with Peter in Montreal, so it's within the realm of possibility that during that uncounted for time Monroe heal Linderman and the Linderman that is appearing before Nathan now is the real deal.

Just a thought.

so far this "linderman" seems more like a ghost or hallucination to me.
