Hello, Furries!

I saw the movie opening night and my theater was entirely adults. Showings will be full of kids and couples on weekends, but weekdays probably not so much.

It's not weird to go see a Disney or Pixar movie if you don't have kids.

I hope that trend continues! It would be nice to go to a "kid's movie" and not be seen as a pervert.

More so, anyway.

I'm guessing it's different in small towns? One of the nice features of a big (BIG!) city – like Zootopia! – is that nobody gives a crap.

As long as you don't look TOO "off,"* tell anyone who seems to care that you're a children's librarian doing research; you need to see the movie to discuss it with kids and to know whether or not to buy it for the library when it comes out.

I used to be one,** and I actually DID tell people that, it's a great excuse to go see kids' movies. Even if I really made all my buying decisions based on reviews, and I just like a lot of kids' movies because FUN!

*May not work if you look like a badass biker type
** Kids' librarian, not furry.

In small towns, everything you do that isn't exactly like everyone else is notable.

Ah yes, Robin Hood: the film that launched a thousand furries. :D

Furry isn't my thing at all, but I find do find some of the more devoted followers hilariously endearing. And I don't mean that in a mean way -- I have interests and kinks that are equally worthy of some good-natured mockery.
Plus, everyone has their sacred cow, and mine is a fox. A really fucking sexy cartoon fox:

Damn, that fox.
[/shifts uncomfortably in seat]
No, I don't know what you're talking about at all nope uh uh.
Today in local furry news... http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/...-councilors-pass-new-mask-ordinance/81446590/

First time I've been in the news in ages. :)
But....isn't your name Don? :p

I sometimes get my names confused, Turbo... :p
If one cared to search the web enough, one might even find footage of me actually talking during the meeting, but I think I'm not going to help you with that one. :)

But yeah...AFAIK no furry group has ever played an active part in changing the law before. Leave it to us wacky Vermonters...

Crazy Vermonters with your syrup and furries.

@Coloratura , this seems the most appropriate thread to ask if the pony in your avatar is supposed to be dressed like Prince.
Lady Gaga, actually. :D

In the episode "The Mane Attraction," there's a pop star named Countess Coloratura. The story is that she's visiting Ponyville as part of a charity event. Here's a video of her performance in the episode:

Of course, Applejack finds out it's the same pony she knew from camp as a kid, except back then she called her "Rara" (shot for ColoRatuRa). Now, that said, about 45 seconds in, you can see a stage hand that looks an awful lot like Prince hit Coloratura with a vocoder beam, so technically you're still close, and Prince was in the episode. :D

Oh, and if you're still not convinced, here's Coloratura at the end of the episode as "Rara" and being her true self and accepting herself as a genuine person-er, pony. The song is actually quite wonderful. Again, the amazing Lena Hall:

It's actually a really fun episode (my favorite one in fact), if you get to check it out sometime.
Oh, I forgot to add the first time through, the voice of Coloratura is actually Lena Hall, whom I adore anyway. :adore:

I tried to watch MLP, but I just couldn't get into it. I often find the appeal to adults in kids' stuff, but, while I thought it was an awesome show for kids, I personally couldn't see the adult appeal. But that's just me, obviously it exists for a lot of people!

And you can't blame me for thinking she was Prince. ;)
