I think it's just called "Mecha," though I have seen references to "technosexuality," though that may be too clinical a term for a more informal thing.

It could be, I haven't heard much on it for many years. 
I've seen 'em both (and the whole animated series), but thanks! I'm not just into avians, though. It's just the fursona that feels "right" for me, if that makes sense.
Alas, you're probably right. It kept me from admitting it for awhile. Of course, my friends (well most of them) were like "ok, cool."
Fascinating! I hadn't heard about this at all. It does make some sorts of sense, though. I shouldn't ever be allowed to swing a bat'leth around though, furry or not. I'd take some heads off (probably including my own).I've noticed there appears to be an unspoken alliance of sorts between furries and Klingon cosplayers. You see things like Klingon vs. Furry bowling and chess competitions, Klingon parties appear to be a mainstay of some furry conventions, and I know I've seen a video of a furry spinning a bat'leth wile acting as Tawi'Yan at a Klingon wedding.
A lot of these seem to be by the same group of people, but I like to imagine that there really is a global alliance between us. It's fun for me because one of my closest friends is a furry; if I'm invited to his wedding, perhaps I'll ask if I can go in uniform

One of my friends found out I was a furry, and his response was "you're not gay, though, right?" as if (1) that mattered, and (2) that had anything to do with being a furry. I'm pansexual, and my attraction to sentient beings isn't limited to gender, orientation, or even species (though I've yet to meet a race of sentient cat people. *crosses fingers*).
Might one inquire which way you swing?Straight furs do seem to be somewhat of an endangered species.

Well, his comment was the least unsavory, and I don't think he meant it in any bad way, but I have been the recipient of far harsher comments on the subject. Still, people know I'm a furry, they know I'm a brony, they know I cross gender barriers without a single thought to whether it's "right" or not. I'm tired of trying to please people by living their way. I think my way, and I love my way, and while I don't get to live my way, I try to keep that spirit alive.
I have a friend whose parents know that he's gay but don't know that he's a fur. I've already done the act of having to be careful what you say/do around your parents, and I can only imagine how much it's stressing him out. On the other hand, he's currently financially dependent on them. :/

I'm gay, though every once in awhile I consider that I might be a tad bisexual. When the moon is in the right phase, there's the right type of solar flare activity, planetary alignments are just so, etc...
