^Maybe once but Lumley is almost 70 now so I doubt she'd want to run up and down corridors as much as you have to in the role :)

I forgot to mention, one of my favourite things about the General's regeneration was the fact that she'd always been a woman, up to the last incarnation, which was a nice touch.

True.

Man, I didn't even realise that the last season of Ab Fab was nearly four years ago. Time flies.

I wonder what it was that Moffat thought would drive the fans mad? None of it did that to me...

The momentary trolling of the half human thing? A white male Timelord regenerating into a black woman?
Any of those, or giving Clara her own TARDIS, or any combination thereof. Personally I wasn't phased either, but for a show based on change, the certain parts of the fandom are really wedded to their ideas of what they DON'T want changed. Or evolved. Or further explored.

So...Clara was fine with traveling through space and time with the girl/woman/Me who got her killed because of a technicality a couple of hours after almost dying?

So How did the doctor exit here?

That was a real diner. Clara's "diner" is obviously just a copy.

Either that or there's a whole new timey-whimey mystery to solve.

Oh boy...what a terrific episode. I needed to let it sink in a bit. But here are some of my thougths for now:

1. The Regeneration

With this I think the probability that the next doctor will be female just rose quite a bit. Moffat is reminding us "Yes...gender change by regeneration is possible...oh, and by the way...change of skin color too.".

2. Clara and Me (she really needs another Alias to go by!) in their very own tardis...that could be such a cool spin-off, or at least a mini-spin-off. Jeanna is "bound" to Victoria for now...but its not if that show can go on forever, right? So we might or might not see Clara again sometime. But I`ll eat my ffing hat if we won´t see Me again next series or maybe the one after that.

3. Rassilion...okay, now that guy is out there in time/space somewhere? The possibilities...have him team up with Missy...could be interesting.

4. Sistherhood of Karn...ooohkay...my impression used to be that they were on the doctors side...but it seems they are more greyish now...?

Something just occurred to me about Clara's TARDIS. The outside looks like a Diner (chameleon circuit jammed), so the inside of the Diner is inside the TARDIS. Yet the control room is through the back door of the Diner...

So Clara and ME added a "porch"? The porch being the inside of the Diner?

Presumably, Clara's TARDIS is more advanced than the Type 40, making a "porch" option available.

I'd agree there's never been a bad Doctor, unfortunately some have been better than others but hopefully we'll get a female Tom rather than a female Colin (ducks).

Colin Baker really is the most underrated Doctor, IMO. Yes, the stories he was saddled with were crap, and his costume left much to be desired, but he delivered one solid performance as the Doctor.

2. Clara and Me (she really needs another Alias to go by!)

Just call her Ashildr. Despite the credits listing her as "Me" the official BBC merchandise is sticking with Ashildr, most notably in the upcoming novel Legends of Ashildr.

3. Rassilion...okay, now that guy is out there in time/space somewhere? The possibilities...have him team up with Missy...could be interesting.

I really don't see that happening. Keep in mind, it was Rassilon who planted the sound of drums in the Master's head contributing to several lifetimes worth of madness. The Master took revenge on Rassilon for this by killing the Dalton incarnation, which I'm sure Rassilon is still holding a grudge over. Should Rassilon and Missy ever meet again, the two of them are just going to try to kill each other.

4. Sistherhood of Karn...ooohkay...my impression used to be that they were on the doctors side...but it seems they are more greyish now...?

The Sisterhood of Karn always were greyish and indeed when they were first introduced in Brain of Morbius they were depicted as more villainous as they have been in the modern show.

Either that or there's a whole new timey-whimey mystery to solve.

If there is anyone Who would not even notice he stepped into a TARDIS control room instead of a bathroom or instantly forgets to tell his friends, it would be Smith's Doctor.

Remember Twelve said he thought the Diner was on the other side of the hill - clearly the *real* one is on the other side of the hill.

Or it's the same diner and they forgot what side of the road they were on the "first" time.

Completely agree. When the dead one asked "who's at the door", and the doctor said "me", I immediately thought "hmm, who is at the end of time. Oh yes, Tennant, Jack, Martha and the Master.

Glad the pointed out that the race that survived until the end of time, then attempted to take over its previous self, was a worthy candidate for a warrior race.

Did they actually confirm if the Doctor was "half human on his mother's side"?

These excessively long lifespans do worry me. Ashilder survived billions of years since the last time she saw the doctor and clara, but remembered who they were, and had so little going on in the previous thousands of billions of years that her interactions with them would still be "noteworthy" in her indestructible library? During all that time she never once managed to get buried underground like Jack was, or caught on an exploding space ship, or ran out of fuel on a day-trip to Pluto and ended up on a galactic escape trajectory?

Even the Face of Boe died. In 5 billion AD. The end of the universe is 100 Trillion years after that.

She was Neil Gaiman's death wasn't she? The hair and 80s leather jacket waiting at the end of the Universe.

Or it's the same diner and they forgot what side of the road they were on the "first" time.
Or it was a TARDIS both times, and it moved to the other side of the hill. ;)

Did they actually confirm if the Doctor was "half human on his mother's side"?
More like a funny suggestion than anything. I doubt it'll ever be totally confirmed.

This is definitely a case where you have to suspend your disbelief. "Even the other immortals have gone," she says. I wonder how long she's been completely alone.

Although who knows? Given the events of "Face the Raven," she obviously had contact with the Time Lords who were hiding at the end of the universe. Maybe she didn't actually have to go "the long way round." She could have been living on Gallifrey that whole time, in which case she would have easy access to time travel.

One thing is certain, the Diner won't be able to materialize into the tighter spots the police box can, not unless it pulls off some Kitty Pryde type "phasing" so that just part of the entrance wall is visible.

BTW, I LOVE that new spin on the acronym...Time And Relative Diner In Space! Brilliant. Does that mean Clara will brandish a sonic spatula and start calling herself "The Waitress"?

"I'm the Waitress and I'm here to serve justice in 'short order'!" :guffaw:

Sincerely,

Bill

It's possible that they sent her there to meet the Doctor. Try to talk some sense into him. At least that's what I assumed, cause I can't see her power-source lasting till the end of the universe.
