After several years of giving us three commercial free HD episodes of Enterprise each day HDnet is showing Enterprise for the last time today.
It was nice while it lasted.

What's native HD?And does this mean that SyFy will finally be able to actually show ENT in native HD?

Thanks for the explanation. I never knew why it looked so great on HDNet as compared to Syfy. What's native HD?And does this mean that SyFy will finally be able to actually show ENT in native HD?
Exactly what it seems to be. Real, actual high definition image that fills the entire screen and is in genuine 1080i resolution.
As it stands, SyFy does not show ENT in native HD. They only show standard definition feeds that have been upconverted (which is not at all the same thing). And since ENT was made in widescreen from the get-go, what you will get is a picture that is surrounded by black bars on ALL FOUR SIDES.
The reason they do this is because HDNet had exclusive rights to show ENT in full HD. If HDNet is no longer airing the show, perhaps SyFy can finally do it right.
This happened a year or two ago, because of negotiations over a new syndication contract. Eventually the terms were settled and ENT was put back on the air. Maybe they're just negotiating again...?
Even if SyFy gets the HD syndication rights, there will still be commercials, and onscreen ads during the episodes dancing across the bottom half of the screen. And does SyFy show episodes uncut?
