HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abrams

Does anybody know if HBO puts it's episode up for sale on Amazon the day after they air or on a delay? I know I bought Season 1 long before the DVD/Blu-Ray release, but I wasn't sure if it was just shorter delay than the discs, or if they went up day after airing.
I loved Season 1 and at the moment I plan on buying Season 2 as soon as possible.
EDIT: I gave the trailer a second watch with my finger on the pause button to get a better look.
I wonder if the stuff with the bulls was just for the trailer or an actual scene from the season?
One of the unskinned Hosts was moving behind Bernard, and later tying someone to the things they add use to add the white stuff.
Still no sign of Elsie that I noticed.
It looked like Dolores was wearing modern clothes, so I wonder if that means she and possibly other hosts will be leaving Westworld?
Could anyone tell who the couple was at the party? I thought it might be Hector but I can't tell for sure.

I almost didn't realize what I was seeing until the Westworld Super Bowl trailer was almost over, so I went back and watched it, and I'm so happy we're just over two months away from the return of the show. I'm planning on starting an "episode a week" rewatch next Sunday so that I'll finish up Season 1 right before Journey into Night premieres on April 22nd, which should be fun.

Looks like I also need get ready for a season one marathon. I can't wait, but at least we finally have a premiere date.

I'm forever holding out for hope for Elsie. :D

When people talk about overrated shows this is the show they are talking about. What a bunch of beautifully shot pseud-intellectual drivel that's saying literally nothing at all!

Actually, it says everything.

This is the most brilliant science fiction that's been on television in...oh fuck, I don't know, maybe ever. The showrunners know exactly what they're doing with regard to every aspect of it - the music, cinematography, editing...the writing, of course.

Right now, this is particularly refreshing, what with genre fans drooling over hackwork like Discovery.

I like both shows, but Westworld is playing on a whole different level than DISCO
Yup it's playing on the pseudo-intellectual level, while Discovery isn't pretentious - it's an action show with some on-the-nose real world commentary.

I got the Blu-rays of Westworld. I really, really enjoyed the first season immensely. Marvelous cast, great acting, well-conceived and engaging characters, fun twists, beautiful locations. What I felt for Dolores is probably the most I've felt for any fictional robot/AI/android, which given how many robot/AI/android movies and shows I've seen and books I've read is saying something. On every level a wonderful presentation that has me looking forward to what's to come and that has given me things that are fun to speculate about (e.g. who's human and where and when exactly are they).

Oh, we're comparing DISCO to this? Sorry Star Trek, WW knocks out DISCO in round one. If DISCO wants a rematch, it better train hard.

I love Star Trek and Discovery has been great, but again it's not playing at the same level as Westworld, The Handmaid's Tale or to step outside the genre, Breaking Bad. I think DISCO can be favorably compared to Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, though.

I do have to laugh at accusing another show being "pseudo-intellectual" and "pretentious" when talking of Star Trek. Roddenberry's bread and butter in his and Trek's lean years was made from pseudo-intellectualism and pretension built around Star Trek. And it had a habit of slipping into the work before and after those lean years

Star Trek gets quite pretentious, especially around the TNG era, but I haven't seen anything profound in Westworld whatsoever. It's asking whether machines are "alive"? Star Trek did that forever ago.

And if you just go by the narrative, Westworld does the absolutely inexcusable and changes tenses on us, leading to inconsistent points of view. All in the name of a mystery that requires a writing cheat to solve.

I say this as a fan of Westworld, but its REALLY stupid.

STD doesn't even have the potential to compete. I mean, the idea is a joke.
It's true. Given that it doesn't do artsy crap, a snail's pace, and an idea to tell people that it's being profound while saying absolutely nothing at all, I'd say it's far more enjoyable. If you like 6 hour long arthouse flicks, you are the audience that will enjoy Westworld the most.

Oh, for fuck's sake.

Here's an idea: How about we actually talk about Westworld instead of dragging Discovery into the umpteenth thread where it has little to no relation to the conversation?

Further, who gives a shit about ratings? Can't we just enjoy discussing the upcoming episodes that we know we're getting instead of dragging ratings into the umpteenth thread? Because that shit is beyond old.

I'll help: io9 posted an article about a show-related website called Delos Destinations, which gives a hint on what other worlds we might see in season two (possibly Samurai World). There's also a link to red band trailer with some additional footage.

"Artsy" is the absolute last word that should ever be used to describe Westworld, and if you're tempted to use it, you probably haven't actually watched the series.

Since there is a long wait until the final season of Game of Thrones this is welcome news. I very much look forward to watching season 2 of WW. And this time we don't have to debate the William/Man of Black stuff. I rather they stay away from multiple time frames this time.

Well, using it as a narrative trick is not really on the table now. They might shift back and forth from the beginnings of the park to the narrative present, but it might as well be explicitly signaled.

Delos's high ranking managers and stock holders, plus most of its ground level workers (like the security mooks and perverted android wranglers, etc) are getting what was coming to them for decades, after exploiting and abusing the partly self-aware humanoids in every conceivable way. But I do feel more genuine sympathy for guests who came to Westworld just out of curiosity and got stuck there with the unbalanced murder bots.

Also, considering the strangely stable weather, lack of natural wildlife (outside of bugs), the circular Westworld landscape and coastline, and strange stuff like moons being revealed as light fixtures, I get impression the whole place is a fully enclosed artificial location.

One solid theory is that it's a dome at the bottom of the ocean:

I'm thinking it's perhaps a gigantic dome enclosing an artificial island above the ocean (either way Westworld may resemble the giant studio from The Truman Show, which also starred Ed Harris as a villain).
