Hawaii 5-0 Season FIVE

I watched them out of order, too! And yeah, I agree… it was risky for Grover to involve his wife. I think that was supposed to illustrate what a team they are, which is cool--yay for healthy marriages on TV!--but I was really nervous for her when she went to get the phone.

I don't remember if we'd seen Grover's wife before that episode. For a while, I wasn't even sure if Grover was married.

And I understand the need to keep up appearances, but I didn't necessarily think it was a good idea for Grover to involve his wife by having her take Clay's phone and then leave her alone with him. If he killed his own wife, what's to stop him from killing Grover's wife to cover-up his wife's murder?

Yeah, that bothered me as well.

If you suspect your cop friend murdered his wife, get her the hell out of the house. What if he somehow catches wind that you're investigating him and takes her hostage? Grover repeatedly made the point about how good his former partner was at reading people.

Then, to make matters worse, he tells his wife what he suspects and leaves her in the house with the guy, where it's entirely possible she could reveal their suspicions to him with her body language, verbal responses, and nervousness.

Then, worse than that, Grover sends her on a damn mission to steal the alleged murderer's phone.

Then, worst of all, he leaves her in the house with him for hours while the phone is mission so the guy can angrily confront her about it.

What the hell, Grover? Take some time to make sure your wife is in a safe place before going to work and steal the phone yourself when you get a chance. They'll wait for you. And if the partner woke up and found her missing, he might just assume she left to go do something.

I'm in the middle of watching Friday's episode and man is it a 90's flashback! I spotted Pauly Shore right away and right they found a dead-ringer for Chris Farley, when I Googled the actor and saw it was his brother, Kevin. I knew the third guy was familiar and it turned out to be Jaleel White!

Man, I love this show!

I had the same reaction you did -- i was wondering about the :Chris Farley imitator".

Now i never saw the movies...but this sure felt like a "Hangover" ripoff.

I also really liked that Jerry finally got some real props!

I'm starting to wonder how much money Microsoft spends on product placement in 5-0.

Though Jerry's commands to Cortana (the MS version of Siri) might have been a tad too obscure for product placement.

^   The product placement in this last episode was SHAMELESS. I was laughing as Jerry talked to Cortana. It was practically the length of a regular commercial!

And haha, yeah, last Friday's episode was totally a 90s reunion! Definitely the H5-0 version of The Hangover for sure. I liked it.

BTW, here's a spoiler for the finale (that's not too spoiierish, but read at your own risk:
Catherine is coming back for the last episode!
.

I'm still 3-4 episodes behind, but the product placements crack me up. They still aren't as obnoxious as the annual three-minute "let's talk about the great features of this Toyota we're driving" scenes on Bones.

His choice of pursuit music made up for the commercial. :)

Hmm I think the writers of the series final lifted a chunk from a Christopher Nolan film...

The finale was kind of crazy, when Steve and Danny were flying a nuke out into the ocean in a helicopter!!! But I liked it because as long as I'm entertained, apparently I'll accept just about anything from this show.

Was anyone really surprised that Charlie was Danny's son? I was not. He had every right to be seriously pissed and I felt so bad for Danny in that moment when he realized. I love that he went to Steve (or Steve found him) and he vented to him about it. There was a lot of great stuff between the guys in the two episodes. The banter about Danny trying to set Steve up for the wedding was hilarious. But after all of that, Danny didn't even go with his girlfriend!

It was cool that Catherine came back but also super awkward. No talk of what she was doing or whether she came straight from Afghanistan or not. It kind of felt like maybe she hadn't--like maybe she'd stayed away after and was just coming back for Kono's wedding. (Can we talk about how great her hair looked, though??? :) ) Steve seemed happy to have her back but wasn't committing to asking her to stay… Steve's issues are many.

I'm not sure what Waincroft's deal is but I just don't think he's going to be much as the new Wo Fat. Where's Papa Fat? Can't he come in and stir shit up?
