Have you ever gone skinny dipping?

Plenty of times: lakes, rivers, pools, oceans. I've pretty much covered all the mediums.
I vaguely remember maybe having done so while on holiday in Florida. It was night but still so hot as to be good to swim in the hotel pool, so I thought, fuck it, no-one else is around, what the hell. The fact that I can't remember for definite whether it actually happened or if I'm just imagining it suggests it wasn't all that memorable of an experience.
I do however very specifically remember an occasion where I missed out on a chance. My office was all out on a staff weekend holiday on Fire Island, and all sharing rooms in the one rickety old hotel. I heard some noise during the night, but just assumed it was youthful carousing and rolled over and went back to sleep. I woke up in the morning to the news that, in the middle of the night, practically the entire hotel had spontaneously decided to go skinny dipping in the hotel pool. And I had apparently slept through it. I was quite crushed, as there was several of them I would not have minded seeing naked.
Which leads me to the question for gents who have done this - do you not fear that, when skinny dipping with people who you do not find physically repulsive, you might ... ahem ... not be able to "control yourself"? Has that been a problem? Or do I just read too much porn?

Around here ALL beaches are public and clothing optional, so; yes -it's really the only way to swim in the sea (but look out for stinging things).
Several times with various girlfriends during college.. There are some hot springs not far from Albuquerque up in the mountains and there are a couple that are further up the mountain from the larger pools most people use.. Just perfect for some candles (when it's not fire season), a bottle of wine and some fun...
Also, back at the camp I worked at in Maine, on the "boys side" of the lake, tradition held that once or twice a summer after dinner, staff and campers would assemble at the dock wearing only one shoe and then jump in the lake... I would imagine 23 years later now, they probably don't do that anymore...

Oh, a bit unrelated: Is it really so unusual for American girls to go to the beach topless? I mean, bikini lines suck.
