After nearly six years, it's gotten old. It's two damn movies. Like 'em or love 'em. Hating them, so long after the fact is a waste of time, which I am all too happy to point out to those people who do so.
Wat does the age of a movie have to do with anybody's enjoyment or lack of enjoyment of it? Disney's adaption of the "Jungle Book" was released in 1967, yet I dislike that movie, just like I dislike ST09 and Into Darkness. Hate is a strong word, but I think people are even allowed to hate an old movie if they wish so, just like people can love a movie that 6, 10 or even 60 years old.
The problem I think stems when people who don't enjoy the new movies try to convince people who do to change their minds, begrudge them their enjoyment or declared they are not "real" ST fans (whatever that is) these peoplee have to learns that everybody can love, like, dislike or hate the things they choose.
However it is also true that not everybody who says they dislike or hate the reboot tries to destroy others' enjoyment of it. I can only speak for myself, but I'm happy for everybody who enjoys them, even if I didn't. All cool in my eyes.
