A pretty standard finale, a little unfocused and oddly timed, in that the thing that saved the world didn't happen until after the world had apparently already ended, so how did they get it back? Though the idea that telling stories recreates the world is reminiscent of the cosmology of past KR seasons, like Den-O where our memories of temporally erased people and things allowed them to return to existence, or the Decade post-series finale movie where Decade was saved the same way.

As for my overall thoughts on the series, I see I discussed those here two weeks ago, so I guess I don't have anything to add.


Next week seems to be a mini cross-over between Saber & Revice.

Kamen Rider Ghost, from the same head writer as Saber, did the same thing, wrapping up its story in the penultimate episode and then doing an epilogue crossing over with the next season, Drive.

It's always weird when consecutive seasons of KR or Super Sentai are nominally set in the same reality. One season ends with the heroes celebrating that they've finally saved the world and restored peace and can go back to their lives again, and then the Earth comes under attack again a week later and the previous team is nowhere to be found. Not to mention that the way the crossover movies and specials are set up often mean that the two series actually overlap. And the chronology gets even more warped with the way the epilogues tend to jump forward a year, but then the next series is back in the present day. Just one of many things it's best not to examine too closely.

Since he became the action director starting from Zero-One, he has accumulated know-how not only on how to present actions but also on how to utilize the characteristics of items and characters, which is why he was able to solve this difficult problem. And the suit actors did just that, expressing themselves even better than the director had instructed. Even though we couldn't see their faces through the masks, we could feel their emotions in the battle. The action was truly amazing and worthy of the final chapter.

And with this chapter, many of us are all done! Let me show you the photos all at once.

First of all, there was Tenta Banka as Sora Ogami, who was the main reason why Kamen Rider Buster/Ryo Ogami fought and was also the mischievous idol of the scene, and Arisa Nakajima as Haruka Ogamu, who joined the show at the very end.

We only had a few days to film the three of them, but despite that, we were amazed at how much they looked like a real father and son.

At home before coming to the shooting, Tenta said, "I'm going to sing the theme song of Saber in front of everyone after today's shooting! (According to his mother). However, when the time came to finish the filming, he cried out, "I don't want to finish!".

He couldn't stop crying because he was really sad to leave Ikushima-san, who treated him kindly and friendly like a real father every time, and Naito-kun, Aoki-kun, and the rest of the cast who really tried hard to play with him in their free time.

The cast members who were watching naturally burst into tears. Tears welled up in the eyes of Ms. Nakajima, who played the role of the mother, as well as his real mother.

When we saw Tenta's pure heart, we were glad that everyone in the scene had worked hard.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Kamen Rider Saber over the past year!

I never thought I would be in a situation where lines like "the earth is in danger", "protect the world", and "save humanity", which have been spoken many times in dramas but have been regarded as somewhat fictional, would feel so real. I never thought that a pandemic would threaten the Earth, the world, and humanity!
Kamen Rider Saber is a "story that makes a story".

This is a story that was produced under this unprecedented crisis on Earth, and the staff and cast all worked together, gritting their teeth and struggling to fulfill their roles in order to help the viewers as much as possible.

It is a miracle that the selected members of the group were able to get together, communicate with each other maintaining physical distance, and safely reach the final chapter while enduring the threat of the virus, or rather, I could only imagine that this story of creating a story was written in the Book of Omniscience.

Thank you for staying with me until the last chapter. I hope that this story will become your "unforgettable story". I hope that Tassel will serve as a bookmark in your heart, something you cannot forget even if you try.

Now, it's your turn to create a story. Creating a story = living. I'm looking forward to seeing your original stories.

My initial reaction is dismay. Very crude, annoying, and unfunny. But then, I had a strong negative reaction to the first episode of Dekaranger, and that ended up being one of my all-time favorites. So I'll try to keep an open mind.
 
This isn't strictly Power Rangers, but it did amuse me. Maybe they could do a ramen episode.:D

The 35th Super Sentai is an unbelievable team that uses the powers of previous teams to fight. They are the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Though they came to Earth seeking the “greatest treasure in the universe”, they protected the planet from the invading Space Empire Zangyack and came to believe that the Earth was worth protecting.

Ten years have passed since then. The public gambling activity “Super Sentai Derby Colosseum” has been established on Earth and has been hugely popular across every generation. Though the many Super Sentai heroes had been the targets of bets, they cooperate with the Colosseum project so long as the money is used for defending the Earth. However, one Super Sentai could not be contacted. That team had disbanded and each member gone on their separate paths. It was during this time that Captain Marvelous appeared on Earth, issuing a challenge to the Colosseum’s administration. But standing opposite from Marvelous is Gai Ikari whose views match those of the Colosseum’s.

Is it the Gokaigers or the people of Earth that are changed from this passage of time? How will Joe, Luka, Doc, and Ahim respond to these circumstances? After ten years, an extraordinary battle is about to begin…!

Gokaiger was a surprisingly excellent season, in sharp contrast to its half-hearted Power Rangers adaptation Super Megaforce. Like most of Naruhisa Arakawa's series, it had terrific character work and clever plots. It's my favorite of all the anniversary-themed Super Sentai or Kamen Rider seasons. (I'm enjoying Zenkaiger as a very fun and witty season in its own right, but its anniversary elements are even more superficial and cursory, no rhyme intended, than Super Megaforce's were.)

Cool! Thankfully, the franchise has come a long way since the days when David Yost was subjected to homophobic bullying by members of the crew.
 
They seem rather coy about talking about that. There's an interview on Power Rangers Playback between David Yost and Nakia Burrise and Catherine Sutherland. They just refer to it as 'the circumstances'

I saw ep 1 of KR Revice, it has a solid start.

I wonder if the little brother will eventually get past his fear issues and become a secondary rider.

It'd be nice if Primary & Secondary riders were actual biological brothers.

It was a major improvement on the horrible first impression that the Saber finale left for it. I get the sense that some things may have been tentative when they made that episode, given how it kept cutting away to Mei reacting to Revi & Vice's transformations rather than actually showing the FX. And fortunately there's no sign yet of the flatulence "humor" from the preview.

I'm still not entirely sold, but it's got potential.

I was wondering if the sister might. After all, her name is Sakura, which means cherry blossom, and Revi & Vice's costumes have a startling amount of pink that's about the same color as a cherry blossom.

You know what might be nice, for all 3 children to be Kamen Riders.

We've never had 3 siblings (2 sons, 1 daughter) all be Kamen Riders.

That would be a nice change of pace.

Kind of like some older Sentai's where the entire team was actual family, they can bring that same dynamic to Kamen Rider just for this season. Offer a genuine change in the personal relationship / dynamics by having a family setting.

Maybe the little sister can become the 2nd rider while the little brother can become the 3rd rider.
