Harry Kim promotion theory

Well we know that Tom Paris was accepted back and made a hero.

That Chakotay was made a captain.

That Seven was treated like scum and driven to the edge of the galaxy to become Han Solo meets Batman.

But Kim? NO ONE KNOWS.

Seven treated like scum? I always got the impression that she was the main star of the show after her arrival.

As for Kim, the only consolation is that he comes out better in the Voyager books, even in those written after the series ended. At least he got promoted there.

And no one's going to for quite awhile, I wager. The character "belongs" to PRO, but the latest season didn't feature him and it's completely up in the air if Netflix will be interested in actually continuing it. Remember that they basically bought S2 ready made, a pretty good bargain. Making a S3 will require a greater investment.

And if LD is over before his involvement in PRO is sorted out, there will be no more shows set in the timeline he existed in.
Which is one of the reasons why I decided to dismiss everything which conflicts with the Lynxverse. I mean, I've been waiting for so many years to have a series which takes place in the 24th century. But when such series finally becomes reality, like PIC, PRO and LD, they mess upp everything.

But what to expect by the 2020's, the most horrible decade in years.

Then why didn't she or Harry say as much in "Nightingale" or "Author, Author"?
Good question.

We know Harry has underlings. Seven, when doing her efficiency report, told him that he wasn't giving them enough work. Don't remember which episode.
Ayala often worked at OPS when Harry was off-duty or on some other mission so he must have been one of them.

I wonder if Janeway was gaslighting him, telling him how awesome an officer he was and treating him like an incompetent.
Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he wasn't that fond of Iron Maiden's music? ;)

Before the show Picard, she left the Federation, and became an alien space cop who kept order on the fringe, racking up the body count, and did not own a bath tub, until she met Picard in Picard where after years and years Danny Glover shit, Annika Hansen was interchangeable with a grizzled 70 year old Clint Eastwood impersonating Judge Dredd.

He's gotten promoted in every post-VOY non-canon medium we've seen him in, mainly because the writers of those items
1. Weren't stupid.
2. Weren't incompetent.
3. Weren't carrying out some pathetic childish vendetta.

But what to expect by the 2020's, the most horrible decade in years.
And it's not even half over.

In Endgame, did Harry destroy the End Game universe?

Because if that timeline shuffled on, he would have lost his command and lost his rank.

The end of the show: Citizen Kim.

After her arrival back at Earth. We know from Picard she went off to the Fenris Rangers, and had very bad opinions of Starfleet up until that point due to her treatment.

Icheb on the other hand was accepted into the Academy, didn't work out well for him

To be fair, that was because Seven's ex girlfriend/Ranger friend wanted to sell him for spare parts. That wasn't on Starfleet.

They did bork all to go after his killers, though. You'd think murder of a Starfleet officer would warrant an investigation.

OK, then I understand.

I must admit that I wasn't too fond of Seven in Voyager but it was a joy to see her in Picard (before giving up on that one). One of the few characters in that doom-and-gloom series which I found acceptable.

I believe it wasn't in their jurisdiction. And given who the head of security was, might have just need buried.

Rich people have been getting away with crimes since time immemorial, they still do today, and it seems they still do in the 25th century.

Under Captain Chakotay, in the futuristic virtual seventh season of Before and After, 3 years after the Death of Janeway and B'Elanna... What was Harry's rank?

Full Lieutenant.

Although I think that can be partially be blamed on having a wife?

Neither did helm but Paris got promoted.

There is no way that Tom was head of the Con Department, because he was an ExCon.

:bolian:

Someone else was Tom's Boss when he was Ensign, and they assigned him to sit in with all the team meetings with the Captain, for "reasons".

Some one was demoted to bring Tom back, or 90 percent of the reason Tom was promoted was because the Head of Con resigned (and transferred) or died.

Yes. And Tuvok was presumably full commander (Neelix called him Commander Vulcan, anyway), and Tom was a lieutenant commander. Because one way Chakotay was better than Janeway was he rewarded good performance.

Death could have filled a vacancy in another department, but he was as high as he could go in Ops.
False. Pete Durst was an operations lieutenant, and he was killed in "Faces". There was an empty lieutenant's spot in Voyager's operations department for over six years.

And another "justification" for Harry's long ensignhood goes down in flames. :D

Operations officers come with any rank, all the way up to Admiral.

Just because Durst was a Lieutenant and an Operations officer, all that that meant was that he did not want to be head of Department on a shitty little ship, when his prospects were to be Head of Department on a much larger ship, and he might have only had plans to be on Voyager for one mission or three weeks.

A third or more of the crew is not supposed to be permanent fixtures, especially if the ship was intended for tactical missions, and Janeway wanted to keep her crew composition mission specific, so she would have been hiring and firing crewmen all the time depending on who star fleet wants her to kill.

Temporary assignment or no, Voyager's mission profile changed radically with her abduction, and Durst became a permanent member of the crew. If a lieutenant could serve the ship's operations department, then certainly a lieutenant could lead it.
